During his visit to Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka toured his adopted village Sonpuri and participated in a public dialogue program, directly interacting with local residents.
He emphasized that government schemes truly serve their purpose only when their benefits reach the last person in society. To develop Sonpuri as a model village, he directed all departments to work in close coordination. Chhattisgarh Governor also gathered feedback from beneficiaries of various government schemes. During the interaction, he announced financial assistance of ₹5,000 each from Raj Bhavan for students’ skill development training. Responding to villagers’ requests for maintenance and construction of a boundary wall at the cremation ground, he also declared support of ₹5 lakh from Raj Bhavan.
Governor Deka praised the remarkable work being carried out by women of Chhattisgarh through self-help groups, noting that these groups have not only empowered women to become self-reliant but also strengthened the rural economy. He added that small efforts often lay the foundation for major transformations in the future.
The event was attended by Deputy Secretary to the Governor, Ms. Nidhi Sahu, the Sarpanch of Sonpuri village, officials from various departments, and a large number of villagers.
