Chhattisgarh NEWS : A historic step has been taken towards a safe and bright future of daughters in the tribal-dominated Mohla-Manupar-Ambagarh-Chowki district of Chhattisgarh. Under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, Sukanya Samriddhi accounts of a total of 350 tribal girls were opened through Dharti Aaba saturation camps held in all 29 sector headquarters of the district. The initiative was implemented in coordination with the district administration and the Department of Women and Child Development.
The District Collector informed that under this initiative, Sukanya accounts of more than 7500 girl children have been opened in the district so far, which is a solid proof of the economic empowerment of girls. The special thing was that the assistance received from the Mahtari Vandana Yojana was used by many mothers as an initial investment in the Sukanya account to secure the future of their daughters. Officials said that this is not just a formality to open an account, but it is an effective initiative towards bringing a positive change in the social mindset towards daughters. It is our endeavor that no eligible girl child should be deprived of this scheme.
This initiative has not only increased awareness about the future of daughters among the tribal community, but is also providing a strong base at the local level for national campaigns like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. This excellent example of putting government schemes on the ground can become an inspirational model for other districts in the times to come. This initiative shows that when administrative will and public participation meet, the rays of development reach even the remotest parts of the society.
