Chhattisgarh News : In a major step toward making Korba a commercial and economic hub
Chhattisgarh News : The long-awaited Aluminium Park has been cleared, thanks to the consistent efforts of Korba MLA and Minister for Commerce, Industry, Public Enterprises, Excise, and Labour, Mr. Lakhan Lal Dewangan. At a recent meeting of the production company’s board, approval was granted for transferring the land of the closed plant.
About 105 hectares of land at the Kohadia Korba Thermal Power Plant will soon be handed over to the Industry Department. For this, the board has authorized the Managing Director, while the Energy Department has issued a letter to the Nazul Officer for verification and demarcation, so that the land can be officially transferred to the Industry Department.
Earlier, in the 2024–25 state budget, the Industry Department had allocated ₹5 crore for the Aluminium Park based on the proposal put forward by the Industry Minister. Mr. Dewangan had initiated the plan to set up the park on land belonging to the closed production unit, by submitting a joint proposal to the Energy and Industry Departments.
Benefit of the Minister’s Efforts to Korba
Thanks to the strong initiative of Mr. Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Korba will now gain the long-demanded Aluminium Park, a demand repeatedly raised by the District Chamber of Commerce and industrial associations. The park will boost small and large industries in the aluminium sector and create new employment opportunities.
Rising Demand for Aluminium
The use of aluminium is expanding rapidly—not only in power plants but also in construction, office buildings, glass doors and windows, railways, packaging, electrical goods, vehicle body structures, wheels, pharma packaging, utensils, and engineering components. With the new park, many such industries can now be set up locally.
Multiple Products at One Place
Since BALCO’s smelter plant in Korba already produces alumina, the establishment of the Aluminium Park will enable the manufacturing of a variety of aluminium-based products directly in Korba. This will attract both local and outside investors to set up plants, leading to the creation of multiple products under one hub.
