Chhattisgarh NEWS : Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) is no longer limited to providing housing but is becoming a powerful medium of economic empowerment for rural women. The women of Bade Haldi and Midmida under Pusaur development block of Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh have made this scheme a means of self-employment.
The Sudha Mahila Gramme Sangathan and Chandrahasini Mahila Sankul, in association with women self-help groups, have started procuring centring materials used in construction works and making them available on rent at the Prime Minister’s residence construction sites. They are getting regular income and their standard of living has also improved significantly.
The organisation started with only 10 groups in the year 2019, which has now increased to 18 groups. About 200 women participated. The organisation has purchased centring material by taking a loan of Rs 4 lakh 20 thousand, which is being used in the construction of PM Awas.
Women say that due to the assistance received under the Bihan Yojana and the increasing number of PM Awas, they are getting permanent employment opportunities. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai that the schemes of the government have shown them the way to become self-reliant.
