Chhattisgarh NEWS : The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar-Muft Bijli Yojana, a flagship scheme of the Central and State Governments, has not only reduced the electricity bills of the people but has also brought a positive change in their lives. Through this scheme, people are not only getting rid of energy expenditure, but also playing an important role in environmental protection. Now they have got rid of the hassle of paying electricity bills every month. In Mahasamund district, 142 solar connections have been successfully installed so far, officials said.
Laxmikant Panigrahi, a retired bank manager and resident of Kaushik Colony in Mahasamund district, said that he has installed a 6 KW rooftop solar plant on the rooftop of his house. The total cost of the plant was around Rs. 3.15 lakh, out of which a subsidy of Rs.78,000 was received by them from the Central and State Government. Earlier, every month I had to pay an electricity bill of Rs 6,000 on normal days and up to Rs 12,000 in summer, but now my electricity bill is coming down to zero. This scheme is not only saving but also protecting the environment.
Similarly, Housing Board resident and teacher Jyoti Vishwash also installed a 3 KW solar panel on the rooftop of her house. Kranti, which is bringing the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar-Muft Bijli Yojana in Chhattisgarh, got my electricity bill zero in just 15 days as soon as the solar panel was installed. Earlier there used to be a bill of up to Rs 3,000 every month, now there is no worry of electricity bill. It also provides 24 hours uninterrupted power supply. “With this scheme, I have not only got rid of the monthly electricity bill, but also the worry of power shutdown in case of disaster during rainy days,” he said.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar-Muft Bijli Yojana in Mahasamund district, 142 families are not only saving energy but also making a big change in their lifestyle. Registration under the scheme is in progress, he said. It is noteworthy that the solar plant is connected to the electrical grid. If the consumer generates more power than required, the excess power can be supplied to the grid, which also generates additional income. The government has made a provision of Rs 30,000 subsidy for one kilowatt plant, Rs 60,000 subsidy for 2 kilowatt plants and up to Rs 78,000 subsidy for plants with more than 3 kilowatt capacity.
