Chief Minister Mohan Yadav met with National Commission for Scheduled Tribes Chairman Shri Antar Singh Arya at Samatva Bhavan in the CM’s residence on Monday. During the meeting, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav provided a detailed account of the steps taken by the state government regarding the developments in Dewas district. Following the briefing, Shri Arya expressed satisfaction with the Chief Minister’s assurances and subsequently cancelled his planned visit to Dewas scheduled for July 1.
Shri Arya stated that the Commission had earlier taken cognizance of an incident involving the demolition of houses belonging to tribal families in Dewas. Concerned about the situation, he traveled from New Delhi to hold a direct discussion with the Chief Minister.
After an in-depth conversation, Shri Arya acknowledged that the state government had taken prompt and appropriate measures. Acting on the Chief Minister’s instructions, Tribal Welfare Minister Shri Vijay Shah and senior officer Shri Laxman Singh Markam had visited Dewas to review the matter on the ground.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav assured the Commission that its recommendations have been accepted and that the government will implement safeguards to prevent similar incidents in the future. He also reiterated his commitment to upholding the rights and welfare of tribal communities.
Strict Action Promised Against Responsible Officials
Shri Arya further noted that CM Dr. Yadav has pledged strict action against any officials found responsible in the matter. The protection of tribal rights and ensuring their welfare remains a key priority for the Madhya Pradesh government, he added
