Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today handed over appointment letters to 21,391 newly recruited police personnel at a function held at Bapu Auditorium, Samrat Ashok Convention Centre, Patna. On the occasion, he symbolically handed over appointment letters to several newly inducted jawans. The police personnel present on the occasion expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister with applause.
In his address, the Chief Minister congratulated all the newly recruited police personnel and said that the rule of law has been established in the state since 2005 and development works are being carried out continuously since then. He said that in 2005, the number of police force was very less, but since 2006, the process of increasing it was started. After implementing 35% reservation for women, the number of women personnel in the police department is now about 36,000, which is the highest in the country.
The Chief Minister said the sanctioned strength of the police force has been increased to 2.29 lakh and under this 55,000 posts are being promoted and 64,000 posts are being recruited directly. After today’s recruitment, the new reinstatement process of 42,609 constables will also start soon, out of which 19,838 posts will be tested in July.
The Chief Minister directed the officials that there should be no shortage of resources for the police. He talked about ensuring availability of vehicles and buildings for police stations and said that the public appreciates the police personnel who do good work. He also said that strict action will be taken against the culprits.
The Chief Minister was felicitated on the occasion. Director General of Police Shri Vinay Kumar presented him with a green sapling and insignia. A short film on police functioning was also presented during the programme. Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh and other senior party leaders were also present on the occasion.
