On the occasion of Martyr’s Day today, the sacrifices made by seven immortal martyrs namely Umakant Prasad Singh, Ramanand Singh, Satish Prasad Jha, Jagatpati Kumar, Devipada Chaudhary, Rajendra Singh and Ram Govind Singh, who voted for independence on 11 August 1942, were remembered and tributes were paid to them.
A state function was organised at Shaheed Smarak Complex, Patna to pay homage to the immortal martyrs. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar paid rich tributes to the martyrs by garlanding their statues.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, BJP state president Sanjay Jaiswal and other leaders were also present.
Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Union ministers Ram Vilas Paswan, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Nityanand Rai and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav were among those present.
On the occasion, the artists of Information and Public Relations Department presented a rendition of Bihar Geet and Desh Bhakti Geet.
