Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the officials to stop construction in disaster-prone areas during a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday. The Chief Minister said that vulnerable places in view of landslides, avalanches and other natural calamities in the hilly areas of the state should be immediately identified so that vigilance could be taken before the possible danger.
Chief Minister Pushkar gave clear instructions that no new settlement or new construction work will be allowed at these identified sensitive sites. The Chief Minister said that any kind of government or private construction work will be prohibited on the natural water sources and banks of rivers and drains of the state. For this, clear guidelines should be issued to all the district magistrates and their implementation should be monitored regularly. He has warned that strict action will be taken against those who break the rules.
Chief Minister Pushkar said that preventive measures should be given priority to prevent disasters and concrete and effective steps should be taken keeping in mind the public interest in vulnerable areas.
