Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, during a review meeting of the Sports Department at the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday, directed officials to strengthen the sports infrastructure in the state and further encourage youth towards sports. The Chief Minister said that special attention should be paid to the regular maintenance and effective use of the sports infrastructure created during the 38th National Games, so that sports activities in the state can continue to gain momentum. He directed that regular sports competitions should be organized across the state to ensure maximum use of these assets.
The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also directed officials to expedite the work on the proposed Sports University in Haldwani and the Women’s Sports College to be built in Lohaghat. He said that the speedy implementation of these projects will provide high-level training facilities to the state’s athletes, helping the state establish a new identity in the sports sector.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami called for ensuring grand events such as the Nyaya Panchayat level, MLA, MP, and Chief Minister Championship Trophy, to increase youth enthusiasm and participation in sports. He directed that the Sports and Youth Welfare Department also provide necessary support to youth preparing for Agniveer recruitment.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that in view of the 39th National Games, better training and resources should be made available to the state’s athletes. Athletes who excel should be ensured timely access to awards, scholarships, and insurance coverage. He said that the Sports Department should also pay special attention to the development of sports infrastructure with the participation of the private sector and the corporate world, so that sports facilities can be expanded to the public.
The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that experienced coaches should be appointed to provide quality training to athletes and that work related to the establishment of various sports academies in the state should be expedited. He said that the government’s commitment is to promote a sports culture in the state and channel the energy of the youth into positive direction.
Sports Minister Rekha Arya, Vice President of Uttarakhand State Level Sports Council Hemraj Bisht, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Special Principal Secretary Sports Amit Sinha, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Director Sports Ashish Chauhan and other officers of the Sports Department were present in the meeting.
