Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Diwali.
In a message issued here today, the Chief Minister said that Raksha Bandhan is a festival of mutual love, affection and trust between brothers and sisters. This festival symbolizes the spirit of duty, affinity, sacrifice, social unity and harmony. Raksha Bandhan is not only a festival of love between brothers and sisters, but it is also a festival of the Guru-Shishya tradition of India.
Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the Purnima of Shravan month. In the ashram tradition in the month of Shravan, there was a custom of tying raksha sutra to the hosts and disciples after study and yajna etc., which is also observed as Raksha Bandhan. The festival of Raksha Bandhan also works to increase love and brotherhood in the society. It is a holy festival to mark the importance of charity.
