Low TRPs Threaten ‘CID 2’ — Could This Be the End?
New Delhi, July 14, 2025 – Iconic crime thriller CID made a much-anticipated return with CID 2 earlier this year, featuring the return of Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman and the addition of Parth Samthaan as the sharp new ACP Ayushmaan. However, despite strong performances and fan appreciation for its fresh twists, the show may soon go off-air due to disappointing TRP ratings, according to recent reports.

While the revamped version of CID has been praised by loyal viewers for its suspenseful episodes and nostalgic value, insiders suggest the show has struggled to maintain a stable viewership. A report from Bollywood Life claims that Sony TV may pull the plug on CID 2, paving the way for the return of the long-running quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, which is gearing up for its 17th season.
The second season of CID created significant buzz with its updated storyline and dynamic cast, which also includes fan-favorites Dayanand Shetty and Aditya Srivastava. One of the season’s highlights was the “Chakravyuh” plotline, which drew both praise and criticism. A fan on X (formerly Twitter) commented, “The ‘Chakravyuh series’ was just fire. Though sometimes it felt like unnecessary dragging and poor dialogue writing, after today’s episode, the suspense was worth it. Top-notch acting by everyone.”
Despite no official confirmation from the makers or the channel, speculation continues to swirl around the show’s future. If the rumors prove true, it will mark another shift in the network’s programming lineup, with KBC 17 expected to bring back Amitabh Bachchan or a new host to the prime-time slot.
As of now, fans of CID 2 remain hopeful for a turnaround, urging the channel to give the show more time to build momentum.
