On Tuesday, Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed disappointment over Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa’s failure to reveal the location of the 50 bombs he claimed were smuggled into the state. Mann accused Bajwa of waiting for a tragic incident to occur so he could use it for his own political advantage.
Addressing the public, CM Bhagwant questioned why Bajwa, if he indeed had reliable information, was not sharing it. He suggested that Bajwa might be hoping for the bombs to detonate so he could exploit the situation for political gain and spread fear among the people. Mann stated that the Congress leader’s baseless claims were intended to create panic in the minds of Punjab’s peace-loving citizens.
Mann also noted that after the state government filed a case against Bajwa for misleading the public, the Congress leader was scrambling to protect himself legally. He criticized Bajwa for resorting to such tactics and emphasized that leaders of his caliber should avoid making unfounded statements to deceive the people. CM Bhagwant urged opposition leaders to focus on value-based politics instead of such irrational actions.
CM Bhagwant further pointed out that traditional political parties were frustrated by his leadership because they could not accept the fact that a common man’s son was successfully governing the state. He observed that people had lost faith in these parties because of their anti-people and anti-Punjab stance, which led to their defeat in the 2022 assembly elections. He suggested that these parties were now uniting in a desperate attempt to mislead the public.
Turning his criticism towards his predecessors, Mann accused them of amassing great wealth by misusing their power, building lavish palaces with high walls and gates that kept the common people out. He said that these leaders had become unreachable, leading to their downfall.
CM Bhagwant lamented that the state’s development had been hindered by the indifferent attitude of traditional political parties, which had destroyed the future of Punjab’s youth by abusing their power. He emphasized that these leaders had focused solely on their own families’ prosperity, rather than the welfare of the people.
Finally, CM Bhagwant targeted SAD Chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, calling him a rejected leader paying the price for his past mistakes. He accused Badal of deceiving the public during his time in power, ultimately leading to his removal from office. Mann also described the Congress party as fragmented, with its leaders more concerned about protecting their own interests than about party unity.
