CM Bhagwant Says these leaders have misled the public by spreading hatred in rallies while embracing each other at private gatherings.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday criticized traditional political leaders, particularly Sukhbir Badal and Sunil Jakhar, for attending weddings, receptions, and feasts while the state’s farmers are fasting to press for their demands.
CM Bhagwant pointed out that this behavior highlights the insensitivity of the political elite, who have ruled Punjab for decades but prioritized their own interests over those of the people. CM Bhagwant accused these leaders of publicly attacking each other in rallies while secretly maintaining close ties, exposing their double standards.
Mocking their justifications, CM Bhagwant said they might call such gatherings a “social obligation,” but their divisive speeches disrupt Punjab’s social fabric. He noted that while ordinary people fight over political differences, these leaders casually attend each other’s family functions, revealing their true camaraderie. Mann urged the people to see through their deception and support a government that truly represents the common man.
CM Bhagwant further stated that traditional parties resent him because he comes from an ordinary background and has efficiently led the state, breaking their belief in their “divine right” to rule. These leaders, he added, have misled people for too long, but citizens are no longer falling for their false propaganda.
CM Bhagwant asserted that Punjabis have rejected the power-hungry parties that previously took turns looting the state every five years. He emphasized that his government, chosen by the people, is dedicated to fulfilling public expectations, despite constant criticism from the opposition.
Taking aim at Akali leaders, CM Bhagwant said their failure to deliver meaningful progress has led to their declining popularity. He remarked that those who once claimed they would rule for 25 years have now been pushed into political irrelevance by the people of Punjab.
