CM Bhagwant : Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, attended the cremation of Martyr Sub-Inspector (SI) Charanjit Singh on Saturday at Theh Sarhali village in Tarn Taran district. He paid his respects to the courageous officer who laid down his life in the line of duty.
SI Charanjit Singh, aged 57, joined the police force as a constable in 1989 and was serving at the Goindwal Sahib Police Station at the time of his death on April 9, 2025. He is survived by his wife, a son, and two daughters.
As a tribute to the fallen officer, CM Bhagwant Mann had earlier announced a financial aid of ₹2 crore for his family. This amount comprises ₹1 crore as ex-gratia from the state government and another ₹1 crore from HDFC Bank under an insurance policy.
Offering his sincere condolences, DGP Gaurav Yadav assured the bereaved family of full support from both the Punjab Government and Punjab Police. He praised SI Charanjit Singh’s bravery and dedication, affirming that his sacrifice will always be remembered.
This financial support aligns with the state government’s commitment to the welfare of police personnel and their families.
