Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann formally inaugurated eight newly constructed public libraries in Barnala, built at a total cost of ₹2.80 crore.
Speaking at the event, CM Bhagwant Mann shared that the libraries have been set up in the villages of Shehna, Dhaula, Talwandi, Majhuke, Kutba, Deewana, Wajidke Kalan, and Thulliwal. Each facility was developed with an investment of ₹35 lakh and is equipped with computers, internet connectivity, quality books, and literature to assist students in preparing for competitive examinations.
CM Bhagwant Mann expressed confidence that these libraries will significantly contribute to enhancing students’ knowledge and helping them reach their goals. He highlighted that the libraries offer world-class literature, including academic and contemporary resources, creating a rich educational environment.
The chief minister said these village libraries would act as catalysts for development and progress in Punjab and noted that the initiative aims to foster a reading culture among young people in the state.
CM Bhagwant Mann emphasized that students from even the most remote villages can now access global knowledge without leaving their hometowns.
In addition, CM Bhagwant Mann provided an update on the upcoming Tata Steel plant in Ludhiana, which will be the second largest in the country after Jamshedpur. He mentioned that the project is nearly 80% complete and is poised to create thousands of jobs for Punjab’s youth.
