Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling the dreams of great freedom fighters and martyrs.
Speaking at an event in the Indoor Stadium alongside AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, he emphasized that every government initiative is centered on public welfare. He highlighted that due to AAP’s efforts, key sectors like education, healthcare, and power have gained prominence in political discourse, which was previously ignored by other parties. He remarked that even leaders who once boasted of their dominance now fear the positive changes brought by his government.
CM Bhagwant noted that the people of Punjab gave AAP a resounding mandate in the 2022 Vidhan Sabha elections by electing 92 MLAs. He pointed out that those who disrespected religious sentiments and claimed long-term rule have now lost their political standing, facing public rejection.
CM Bhagwant stressed that his government is actively working to clean up the mess left by previous regimes, particularly in combating drug abuse. He stated that while past governments shielded drug mafias, his administration has launched an aggressive crackdown, arresting key figures and dismantling supply networks. Additionally, steps are being taken for the rehabilitation of drug victims, and properties of drug peddlers are being seized and demolished, as seen in Narangwal village. He urged public support in making Punjab drug-free.
CM Bhagwant also highlighted his government’s firm stance against corruption, noting that dishonest officers attempting to shield their colleagues have been transferred. He made it clear that exploitation of the common man would not be tolerated.
He asserted that traditional political parties resent his leadership because he comes from a humble background and is dedicated to public welfare. These parties, he said, long considered power their birthright but are now struggling to accept a common man efficiently running the state. However, people are no longer misled by their false narratives.
Praising Punjab’s sporting talent, Mann celebrated the achievements of state athletes, including the captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team and the significant presence of Punjabi players in the national hockey team. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing world-class sports infrastructure to nurture future champions.
Earlier, CM Bhagwant, Kejriwal, Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora welcomed distinguished guests and honored business leaders attending the event.
