CM Bhagwant Singh Criticizes Congress Leaders for Making Unfounded Claims.

Criticizing Congress leaders, particularly Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, for making unfounded claims, Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday said that instead of fantasizing about gaining support from AAP MLAs, the Congress should focus on maintaining unity within its own ranks.

Addressing the opposition on the floor of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the Chief Minister dismissed claims that some ruling party MLAs were in contact with Congress and planning to switch sides. He argued that these power-hungry politicians have lost touch with both their own party members and the public, which led to their rejection by voters. Mann asserted that such baseless statements were a regular tactic of Bajwa, aimed solely at grabbing media attention, rather than addressing Punjab’s concerns before the Union government.

The Chief Minister accused former Congress Chief Ministers of being inaccessible, corrupt, and inefficient, leading to their electoral defeat. He remarked that past leaders were rarely seen by the public, as they were either engaged in personal affairs or confined to their luxurious residences. Challenging Congress leaders, Mann suggested that instead of speculating about AAP MLAs, they should focus on keeping their own party intact, pointing out that even their seven MLAs in the current assembly struggle to work together.

Highlighting his government’s achievements, Mann stated that over 51,000 jobs have been provided purely on merit. He emphasized that the government has introduced numerous pro-people initiatives, including the closure of 18 toll plazas, saving Punjab residents ₹63 lakh daily.

Mann also underlined efforts to promote canal water usage for irrigation to conserve groundwater and announced upcoming reforms to enhance the MGNREGA scheme for the state’s benefit. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving health, education, power, employment, and infrastructure sectors.

Reiterating Punjab’s strict stance against drugs, the Chief Minister stated that the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy, ensuring that drug smugglers are dealt with firmly. He added that the fight against drugs is evolving into a mass movement with strong public support and participation.
