Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday reaffirmed that the state government will strongly oppose the Waqf Amendment Bill introduced by the BJP-led NDA government.
Speaking to the media after participating in Eid celebrations, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the Muslim community is vehemently opposing this bill, and the Aam Aadmi Party stands firmly with them. He assured that the party will challenge the bill both in Parliament and the Vidhan Sabha to protect the interests of the Muslim community. Mann emphasized that the government is dedicated to the welfare of all sections of society and will make every effort to uphold this commitment.
Addressing another query, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann highlighted the government’s efforts to maximize the use of Punjab’s groundwater. In recognition of this, the government has prepared a comprehensive roadmap for the city’s holistic development.
Malerkotla will be equipped with modern infrastructure and essential civic amenities. As part of these efforts, the government will establish a 100-seat medical college, along with a state-of-the-art 200-bed super-specialty hospital to improve healthcare services. Additionally, the existing girls’ college will be upgraded to enhance educational facilities.
Funds have been sanctioned for constructing a new District Administrative Complex and Tehsil Complex in Malerkotla, along with another Tehsil Complex in Amargarh. Further, the city will witness the development of a new bus stand, improved link roads, enhanced sanitation, and better recreational facilities. Strengthening the Jarg-Rauni and Khanna Road will also be a priority to boost connectivity.
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann also announced a new mini-bus service for rural areas, with permits allocated to unemployed youth to create job opportunities and enhance transportation in villages. He assured that the government will continue its fight against illegal encroachments, corruption in the Revenue Department, and drug trafficking.
