Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann visited his native village, Satauj, and interacted with local residents, emphasizing the importance of unity, brotherhood, and communal harmony for village development. The Chief Minister recalled fond memories of his village and expressed gratitude for the love and affection he has received from its residents over the years.

During his interaction with Panchayat representatives and villagers, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stressed that factionalism in villages, often created by leaders for personal gains, hampers growth and development. He urged everyone to focus on collective progress and maintain a spirit of unity and cooperation.

The CM Bhagwant Singh Mann also invited parents to actively participate in the Mega Parent–Teacher Meetings (PTMs) scheduled for December 20 across all 19,000 government schools in Punjab. He highlighted that this initiative, the first of its kind by the state government, allows parents to directly engage with teachers, understand their children’s academic progress, and support them in facing future challenges.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann further elaborated on efforts to improve the quality of education in government schools, noting that principals and teachers are receiving world-class training in countries like Singapore and Finland. Advanced training programs are also being conducted at IIM Ahmedabad to equip educators with the best teaching methodologies.

Addressing youth employment, the Chief Minister assured that every capable and eligible young person in Punjab is being provided government jobs without corruption or favoritism. Since March 2022, more than 58,000 youths have secured government employment, with some families having multiple members benefitting from this initiative.

Criticizing the recent changes in the MGNREGA scheme by the BJP-led Central Government, CM Mann stated that these amendments place a 40% funding burden on the states while delaying central funds, adversely affecting poor workers. He noted that due to these changes, MGNREGA workers are unable to carry out essential village projects like building schools, mandis, and drains, and accused the Centre of attempting to undermine the scheme entirely.

CM Mann concluded by reaffirming his commitment to promoting village development, youth empowerment, quality education, and communal harmony in Punjab.
