CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the primary goal of the state government is to advance the concept of Antyodaya by ensuring maximum relief reaches the last person in society.
CM Bhajan Lal : The “Shehar Chalo Abhiyan”, scheduled to run from September 15 to October 2, will serve as a milestone in achieving this objective. He directed officials to work under an effective action plan to ensure the campaign’s successful implementation, so that urban local bodies are strengthened with better civic amenities and services are delivered more efficiently.
Addressing a review meeting of the Urban Development and Local Self-Government Department at the Chief Minister’s Office on Tuesday, Mr. Sharma instructed that pre-camps be organized from September 4 to 13 ahead of the campaign. During this period, officials should visit municipal wards, interact with councillors, and identify problems so that citizens receive quick and smooth relief during the main camp.
Quick Disposal of Public Utility Works
The Chief Minister stated that the campaign will focus on key public services such as improving sanitation, installing new street lights, capturing stray animals, issuing birth and death certificates, maintaining and beautifying public spaces, and repairing roads. He also instructed special attention to be given to the distribution of PM SVANidhi loans, applications under the PM Suryaghar 150 Units Free Electricity Scheme, and the repair of community buildings, Anganwadi centres, and schools.
Planned Development in Rural Areas
Sharma emphasized that the government is consistently working towards the state’s planned development to strengthen infrastructure. He stressed the need to focus on rural development in line with future requirements, especially in areas such as sanitation, drinking water, roads, and sewerage.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Urban Development and Local Self-Government (Independent Charge) Jhavar Singh Kharra, along with senior officials of the department.
