CM Bhajan Lal Sharma held a high level review meeting at Chief Minister’s residence on Sunday regarding the situation arising due to heavy rains in several districts of the state, especially waterlogging in urban areas and rise in water level of rivers and dams. He directed the administration to carry out rescue and relief operations in the affected areas with alertness and sensitivity, giving utmost priority to the safety of the citizens.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that in view of the situations arising out of rains, the officers should act on alert mode and take prompt action. Continuous monitoring should be done in low-lying and flood-prone areas by taking updates regarding the water level of rivers, ponds and reservoirs. Teams of SDRF, Civil Defence and Home Guards should be on alert with adequate resources. He also directed to give wide publicity to the helpline number while effectively operating the control room in each district.
Intensive plantation will be done under Hariyalo Rajasthan.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that inspired by the successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the state government had planted more than 7 crore saplings last year under the ‘Ek Vridh Maa Ke Naam’ and ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’ campaign. We have set a target of planting 10 crore saplings under ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’ this monsoon season as well. To achieve this, the identification of suitable places for plantation should also be ensured. In this campaign, the active participation of various departments including Education, Medical, Panchayati Raj, Forest Department should be ensured and the general public should be motivated to plant more and more trees.
Continuously monitor the condition of damaged dams and canals.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma also directed to shift the people and livestock affected by the heavy rains to safer places. He said that adequate availability of necessary resources and smooth delivery of services in the affected areas. There should be no shortage of essential commodities including drinking water and food items to the affected people in the waterlogged areas. He also directed to repair the damaged roads and streamline the power supply. The Chief Minister directed that necessary repair works be carried out by constantly monitoring the condition of damaged dams and canals.
Provide relief and rescue information to the public.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma directed the district collectors to put up warning boards at places like flooded roads, bridges and rivulets and disseminate information about the relief and rescue work being done by the district administration for disaster management. Also, make decisions as needed for the safety of the students. During this, he appealed to the people of the state to take special care in the event of heavy rains. Be alert to avoid heavy rain, lightning and other natural disasters. Avoid crossing rivers, canals and rivulets.
Flood relief assistance released to districts
It was informed in the meeting that Rs 20-20 lakh has been released to the divisional headquarters districts and Rs 10-10 lakh to other districts for flood relief. The State Emergency Operation Centre is functioning regularly in the premises of the Government Secretariat. According to the data received, 36 districts of the state have recorded abnormal and 5 districts have recorded more than normal rainfall. The total filling capacity of all major and minor dams is about 13027 MQM, out of which 67% has been filled.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma directed that Vidhan Sabha reports on dilapidated buildings, waterlogged areas, broken roads and river drains should be prepared from all the districts. He said that assistance for the dead and injured in rain-related accidents should be provided as soon as possible with sensitivity.
CM Bhajan Lal Shama said that all the District Collectors should identify the places for the recharge structures to be built under the Karmabhoomi to Mathrubhumi campaign in the villages and send a report. He said that under the ‘Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan-Jan Abhiyan’, the works related to water conservation in the state should also be reviewed and suggestions should be sent for their maintenance and improvement.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Sudhanshu Pant and other senior officials. At the same time, divisional commissioners, district collectors, range I.G. and other high officials from all over the state connected through the VC.
