CM Bhajan Lal Sharma has directed the officials of the Energy Department to work in a planned manner to continuously increase the power generation in a phased manner so as to ensure adequate and uninterrupted power supply to the growing population in the coming years. He said that Rajasthan is making rapid progress in the energy sector and the State Government will ensure day time power availability to farmers by the year 2027.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma was reviewing the Budget Announcements of the Energy Department for the year 2025-26 at the Chief Minister’s Office on Wednesday. During this, he gave necessary guidelines while reviewing the renewable energy schemes along with strengthening the power system, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to consumers. He also gave special instructions to the officials to keep the power supply smooth during the peak demand period for the farmers in the upcoming Rabi season. He also directed to ensure uninterrupted and regular power supply to domestic and industrial consumers.
Ensure timely maintenance of production units
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that timely maintenance of production units and transmission systems should be ensured. Effective steps should be taken to improve the process of repair, maintenance and use of transformers. Shri Sharma gave detailed review of PM Suryaghar free power scheme and gave necessary guidelines on its implementation. At the same time, he also specifically directed for early release of agricultural connections.
Ensure availability of electricity in villages
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the State Government is constructing GSS of 30/11 by strengthening the power system so that electricity can be easily available to villages and villages. In areas where the issue of non-availability of land for GSS has come up, work should be done on acquiring land through public participation. He took stock of the progress of power system strengthening works under RDSS scheme and installation of solar plant under Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana and gave directions.
Make special efforts to increase revenue, prevent corruption –
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma also directed the officials to increase revenue and effectively prevent leakages in transmission and distribution. Shri Sharma said that in case of faulty meters, the responsibility of the employees should be fixed. Strict disciplinary action should be taken against those who are negligent in government work. At the same time, the Chief Minister directed to take strict steps to prevent power theft.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma gave detailed discussions on the proposed pump storage schemes, operationalized coal, gas and hydro power projects and battery energy storage systems.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Shri Heeralal Nagar, senior officials of Power Department including Rajasthan State Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution Corporations.
