CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that in the three new laws enacted in the country, more emphasis has been laid on justice than punishment. The Indian Penal Code, the Indian Civil Defence Code and the Indian Evidence Act are creating a positive public trust in the judicial system. It is the intention of the state government that Rajasthan becomes a role model across the country in the implementation of these new criminal laws.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma was presiding over a high level meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence on Thursday regarding the implementation of these new criminal laws. He said that the State Government is ensuring that all resources are made available to strengthen the law and order and implement the new laws.
VC Rooms to be set up with priority
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that in the new criminal laws, provisions have been made to take the evidence of the witness through video conferencing. In compliance with this, video conferencing rooms should be set up in courtrooms, prisons, hospitals, FSLs and government offices on priority. Also, adequate facilities should be developed in these VC rooms so that the witness gets a sense of security.
‘Need Help ‘facility available for women on RajCop App
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that while implementing citizen centric provisions, the State Government is providing ‘Need Help “facility for providing immediate assistance to women in the State on RajCop citizen mobile application. At the same time, SOS alerts and information about the progress of the investigation are also being made available on the Rajcop app for all the citizens of the state. He directed for effective monitoring of adjournments in prosecution cases.
Forensic lab should be modernized, adequate human resources should be employed –
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that better provisions have also been made regarding forensic efficiency in the new laws. Adequate human resources should be employed along with ensuring modernization of forensic labs in the state. Also, Rajnet connectivity and hardware resources in police stations should be quickly replenished. He directed to ensure 100 percent implementation of new criminal laws in selected model districts and circles in the state.
It was informed in the meeting that all the investigating officers have been registered on the e-evidence and e-summon app. The e-Summon is being served through RajCop App and new CCTNS and training is being imparted in electronic serving.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Home Affairs Jawahar Singh Bedham, Chief Secretary Sudhanshu Pant, Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma, and senior officers of the departments concerned, including Home, Law and Justice, Medical and Health, Information Technology and Communications.
