CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s’ Ek tree maa ke naam ‘campaign, the state government has resolved to plant 50 crore saplings under Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan. Under this scheme, 7 crore saplings were planted in 2024-25, and a target of planting 10 crore saplings in the budget year 2025-26 has been set.
He was speaking at the state level function of World Forestry Day at Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur on Friday. Describing nature as the basis of life, he said that worship of trees, nature and mountains has special significance in the culture of Rajasthan. He called upon all to take a pledge to protect forests, conserve bio-diversity and build a green Rajasthan.
Appreciation of Godawan Conservation
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is leading at the global level for environmental balance. He had presented the ‘five nectar elements’ to tackle climate change, including forests, at the COP26 conference in Glasgow. At the meeting of the National Board for Wildlife, the Prime Minister lauded the efforts of Godawan conservation and announced the National Godawan Conservation Action Plan.
The Three R’s: From Waste to Resource
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the state government is promoting waste management, water conservation, renewable energy and resource efficiency by adopting the principle of ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (3R)’ of the Prime Minister. In this direction, the Rajasthan Circular Economy Incentive Scheme 2025 has been launched.
The state government is going to implement agro forestry policy, which will boost green cover. Along with this, initiatives like ‘One District, One Species’ scheme, establishment of mother forest, recruitment of forest guards, grassland conservation and development, and gharial conservation centre in Sawai Madhopur are being taken.
Rajasthan gets new projects
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma launched the country’s first digital forest stack ‘Digi-One-Forest Stack’ app. He also inaugurated eco-tourism facilities at Sitamata Wildlife Sanctuary, golf cart service at Keoladeo National Park and Nahargarh Biological Park. He unveiled the logo of Forest Soil Health Card, Climate Change Response and Ecosystem Service Enhancement (C-RESEP) and digitally laid the foundation stone of Forest Training and Management Institute. On this occasion, kits were distributed to Vanamitras and women personnel of the Forest Department were felicitated for their excellent work.
‘Name a Tree ‘campaign gets recognition
Minister of State (I / C) for Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Shri Sanjay Sharma informed that under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s’ Ek Vridh Maa Ke Naam “campaign, excellent plantation work has been done in Rajasthan, which was specially appreciated in the ‘Mann Ki Baat” programme. The state government has made monitoring arrangements for the protection of the plants and the process of formation of forest protection and management committees is also underway.
