CM Bhajan Lal Sharma: A meeting was held to address smooth traffic flow in Jaipur city, focusing on developing an action plan for the traffic and transport system to meet future requirements.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the state government is working to provide easy means of transport to the people and to provide uninterrupted transport system. For this, there will be no shortage of necessary facilities and human resources. He said that keeping in view the increasing population and expansion of cities over time, a far-sighted action plan for traffic and transport system is necessary. For this, the concerned departments should coordinate with each other and prepare a detailed report.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma was addressing a meeting on smooth traffic management in Jaipur city at the Chief Minister’s residence on Friday. He said that being the capital of the state and a major city, the traffic pressure in Jaipur is more compared to other cities. To find a permanent solution to the traffic problem here, it is necessary to work by planning step by step.
Public transport system needs to be improved.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that for an accurate and permanent solution to the problem of traffic disruption in Jaipur city, it is necessary that the public transport system is strengthened. The public should be provided with quick and easy means of transport to move from one place to another, so that they prefer to travel by public transport instead of private vehicles. The Chief Minister directed the officials to introduce new CNG and electric buses in the city transport system at the earliest to provide smooth and pollution-free transport service to the people.
The number of traffic police personnel should be increased.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the number of traffic police personnel should be increased for the smooth operation of the traffic system in the city. Till then, as an alternative arrangement, Home Guards and RAC Battalion personnel should be deployed for traffic operations. He said that the number of CCTV cameras at major intersections and spots in the city should be increased and strict action should be taken against those who violate traffic rules.Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that improper parking of vehicles outside major malls, hospitals etc. of the city hampers the traffic system. Hence, people are advised to park their vehicles in designated areas.
New satellite bus stands to reduce traffic pressure on major roads
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that to reduce the traffic pressure on the four major roads of Jaipur, Ajmer Road, Agra Road, Tonk Road and Sikar Road, additional satellite bus stands should be built on the same route for the buses operating on this route. This will also reduce the number of buses at the main bus stand at Sindhi Camp. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has directed to shift the Narayan Singh Circle bus stand, which was scheduled for buses going to Delhi and Agra, to another place and operate buses from there during peak hours.
Reduce traffic pressure in the Parkota area
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma directed the officials to provide parking facilities to the general public at affordable rates in the parking lot located at Ram Niwas Bagh to reduce the traffic pressure in the Parkota area and operate mini buses and electric vehicles for commuting to Parkota. Shri Sharma said that e-rickshaws should be operated in Jaipur by earmarking different zones and a different colour of e-rickshaw should be fixed for each zone so that each rickshaw runs in a particular area. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma directed the officials to hold a meeting with the trade associations of the city and fix separate days for keeping the markets closed and for the night market.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma suggested that special bus arrangements should be made for those working in government offices and students of schools and colleges so that they can get comfortable public transport to and from office or place of study.
