CM Bhajan Sharma : The state government is carrying out large-scale relief and rescue operations in the rain-affected areas. In this regard
CM Bhajan Sharma has directed MLAs to conduct intensive inspections in their respective constituencies on September 5, 6, and 7 to ensure relief for people facing hardships caused by heavy rainfall. He has also instructed ministers-in-charge and secretaries to tour their assigned areas for two days to address public grievances. Shri Sharma affirmed that the state government stands firmly with the people of the state in every situation.
On Thursday, while discussing the situation caused by heavy rainfall with MLAs in the Assembly, Shri Sharma stated that from June 1 to September 1 this year, rainfall has been more than 56 percent above the average. He urged all legislators to visit the affected areas and coordinate with district administrations to further accelerate relief and rescue efforts.
The Chief Minister emphasized that along with immediate relief, the government is committed to finding long-term solutions to the recurring problems caused by excessive rainfall and floods. He assured that comprehensive plans would be prepared to address these issues effectively and that the government is working to alleviate the people’s suffering in a meaningful manner.
Regular feedback from the field
CM Bhajan Sharma instructed ministers-in-charge and MLAs to take regular feedback from officials in their areas. He directed MLAs to hold consistent meetings with district collectors and senior officials. Legislators were also asked to boost the morale of affected citizens, ensure timely evacuation of people from low-lying areas, and closely monitor the distribution of food packets, drinking water, medicines, and clothes. He further emphasized the need to arrange safe temporary shelters for women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, as well as to monitor control rooms, helplines, and ensure adequate deployment of NDRF, SDRF, and volunteers.
Sharing information with public and media
Shri Sharma urged legislators to keep the public and media regularly informed to prevent the spread of rumors. He also directed them to share details of relief work and helpline numbers on social media. Additionally, he instructed for the deployment of medical teams in relief camps and affected areas, vaccination of livestock, chlorination of drinking water sources, and strict monitoring of cleanliness and sanitation in the camps. He stressed the importance of raising awareness about drinking safe water, consuming hygienic food, and avoiding contaminated water.
