Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma inaugurates Firozpur Feeder reconstruction in Shree Ganganagar. Congress raises serious questions over project legacy, water issues, and district concerns.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited Shree Ganganagar on Friday to lay the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the Firozpur Feeder and inaugurated a carrot mandi for the district. However, his visit sparked political controversy as Congress leaders raised serious concerns regarding the project and other local issues.
Congress Claims Firozpur Feeder Project Is Their Legacy
Congress District President and Shrikaranpur MLA Roopendra Singh Kunwar held a press briefing on Saturday, alleging that the Firozpur Feeder project is actually a legacy of the previous Congress government. Kunwar stated that the Congress administration had approved ₹200 crore for the project, but the central government deliberately delayed the work. He also warned that the upcoming canal closure in January could adversely affect farmers, as no alternative water arrangements have been made, putting crops at risk.

Congress Leaders Denied Meeting With CM Bhajanlal Sharma
Former MLA Rajkumar Gaur claimed that Congress leaders wanted to discuss several district issues with the Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma but were not allotted time. He highlighted concerns over rising crime, threats to traders and doctors, and the rapidly declining groundwater levels in Shree Ganganagar, labeling them as major challenges for the district.
Questions on State Elections and Vasundhara Raje
Gaur also responded to CM Bhajanlal Sharma’s remarks regarding former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, stating, “While one issue has been resolved, others are still being managed by Gehlot.” He sarcastically asked the BJP to explain how Vasundhara Raje managed electoral issues during the state assembly elections.
Acknowledgement of Sugarcane Price Hike, But Congress Contribution Noted
Kunwar acknowledged the Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s decision to raise the sugarcane support price by ₹15 per quintal but reminded that the previous Congress government, under Ashok Gehlot, had also acted on farmers’ demands for price revision.
The visit, while inaugurating important infrastructure, has thus become a focal point for political debate in Shree Ganganagar, with Congress highlighting perceived negligence on broader district issues.
