Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved a major funding package aimed at accelerating Uttarakhand infrastructure development, with financial and administrative sanctions worth ₹191 crore cleared for multiple sectors including roads, flood protection, housing, tourism, and public utilities.
The move marks a significant push for Uttarakhand infrastructure development, with projects spread across Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Bageshwar, and other districts to strengthen core facilities and improve public services.
UK Infrastructure Development Focuses on Roads and Flood Protection
As part of the UK infrastructure development initiative, major allocations have been made for flood protection and road improvement works. This includes ₹3.62 crore for Song River channelization in Dehradun and ₹21.64 crore for the Old Delhi–Neetipass State Highway and internal road upgrades in Haridwar.
Officials stated that the Uttarakhand infrastructure development plan will help reduce flood risks while improving connectivity in both urban and semi-urban regions.
Infrastructure Development Boosts Housing and Public Facilities
The UK infrastructure development package also includes several housing and administrative infrastructure projects. These include staff housing construction in Nainital, a security building in Haridwar, and completion work for government buildings in Sitarganj.
These investments under Uttarakhand infrastructure development are expected to improve working conditions for government staff and strengthen administrative efficiency.
Development Enhances Tourism Infrastructure
To promote tourism and ease congestion, the Uttarakhand infrastructure development plan includes parking facilities in Mukteshwar and Bageshwar. These projects aim to improve visitor experience and support local businesses in key tourist destinations.
The government said Uttarakhand infrastructure development is closely linked with boosting the state’s tourism economy and improving mobility in hill regions.
Development Supports Kumbh Mela 2027
A key component of UK infrastructure development is the preparation for Kumbh Mela 2027. Funds have been allocated for road repair, ghat beautification, and infrastructure upgrades in Haridwar and Rishikesh.
Authorities believe the Uttarakhand infrastructure development projects will ensure better facilities for pilgrims and smoother management of the large-scale religious gathering.
Uttarakhand Infrastructure Development Strengthens Power and Rural Growth
The UK infrastructure development initiative also includes significant investment in the power sector, with over ₹100 crore support for Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited and related infrastructure upgrades.
Officials said Uttarakhand infrastructure development reflects the government’s long-term vision of balanced regional growth, improved connectivity, and sustainable development across the state.
