CM Pushkar Singh Dhami attends Band Mela conclusion, announces grand Nanda Rajjat Yatra, promotes local products, and highlights major development projects in Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the concluding day of the Band Vikas Mela on Friday, highlighting the cultural, social, and economic significance of traditional fairs in the state. He announced that the upcoming Nanda Rajjat Yatra will be organised in a divine and grand manner, reflecting the rich heritage of Uttarakhand.
Promotion of Local Products and Folk Traditions
Addressing the gathering, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the Band Mela serves as an important platform for farmers, artisans, and craftspersons to showcase their local products and handicrafts. He urged the public to support these traditional fairs, adding that all mementoes and gifts presented at government events will now be sourced from products created by women of local Self-Help Groups.
The Chief Minister also announced the expansion of the Semaldala ground in Pipalkoti, ensuring better facilities for future fairs and cultural events.
Boost to Tourism, Culture, and Local Economy
Dhami emphasised that fairs like the Band Mela play a crucial role in promoting tourism and entrepreneurship, creating new opportunities for employment and self-employment. The diverse local culture, traditional folk music, and handicrafts—such as handcrafted items made from Ringaal and woven products—reflect the vibrant heritage of the state.

He added that through the government’s “Jan-Jan ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan ke Dwar” initiative, the administration is addressing public concerns even in remote justice panchayats.
‘One District, One Fair’ Vision for Uttarakhand
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message on the state’s silver jubilee year, Dhami said that the Centre has encouraged all states to promote local fairs under the One District, One Fair initiative. This, he said, will help traditional fairs gain national and international recognition, enabling a stronger identity for Uttarakhand’s cultural festivals and boosting tourism across the state.
Major Development Projects Underway
Updating the public on key infrastructure projects, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that master plan works for Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham are in progress. Construction of ropeway projects from Gaurikund to Kedarnath and Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib will begin soon, significantly improving accessibility for pilgrims.
The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami added that the long-awaited Rishikesh–Karnaprayag rail line is also moving swiftly toward completion, which will provide a major boost to development and connectivity in the region.
Progress in Housing and Welfare Schemes
Speaking about welfare initiatives, Dhami said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), a total of 6,251 houses have already been constructed in the rural areas of Chamoli district. Surveys for 51,000 additional houses have been completed. Alongside this, 13,000 connections have been distributed under the Ujjwala Yojana, providing clean cooking fuel to families in the region.
The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami urged citizens to continue participating actively in local fairs and cultural celebrations to preserve and strengthen Uttarakhand’s traditional identity.
