Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has hailed the women’s reservation bill as a milestone in Indian history. Speaking at the Nari Shakti Vandan Program organized at the auditorium of Government Doon Medical College, the CM emphasized that the central government, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is working tirelessly to empower the “Matrushakti” (Mother Power) of the nation.
A New Era of Women Empowerment
During the Nari Shakti Vandan Program, CM Dhami highlighted that providing 33 percent reservation to women in politics is not just a policy change but a transformative move. He stated that this historic step would ensure that women are no longer just participants but leaders in the decision-making process of the country.
“The participation of women in legislative bodies will strengthen the very foundation of our democracy,” Dhami said while addressing the gathering at the Nari Shakti Vandan Program.

Strengthening Democracy through Representation
The Chief Minister urged women to step forward and embrace leadership roles across all sectors. He noted that the Nari Shakti Vandan Program serves as a platform to recognize the immense contribution of women to society.
The event saw the presence of Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya and Vice-Chancellor of Doon University, Prof. Surekha Dangwal. Both dignitaries discussed various issues related to gender equality and the socio-economic upliftment of women in Uttarakhand.

A key highlight of the Nari Shakti Vandan Program was the felicitation of women who have excelled in various fields, ranging from social service to education. CM Dhami reiterated that the Uttarakhand government is committed to the “Lakhpati Didi” scheme and other initiatives designed to make women financially independent.
In his concluding remarks at the Nari Shakti Vandan Program, the Chief Minister asserted that when women lead, the entire nation progresses. He promised continued support for any initiative that aligns with the spirit of the Nari Shakti Vandan Program.
