CM Dhami of Uttarakhand Examines Problems with the Electricity Supply and Forest Fires in Nainital

CM Dhami has directed officials to work with the Air Force to contain the forest fire at Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary. This will involve using helicopters and other required resources to spray water over the damaged regions.

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, called an urgent meeting on Monday to discuss urgent problems with the availability of energy, drinking water, and the current forest fires in Nainital.

CM Dhami gave officials from the forest department instructions during the meeting to keep morale high among the ground staff and to make sure they have the resources needed to properly battle the forest fires.

The Chief Minister also oversaw the creation of an action plan aimed at ensuring a steady electricity supply, revitalizing fast drying water sources, and enhancing public access to drinking water.

The examination of forest fires comes after a string of wildfires that were caused mostly by human activity and that lately affected the hilly areas of Pauri Garhwal and Nainital.

Four firemen lost their lives and four others suffered critical injuries fighting a strong fire in the Binsar forest in the Almora district earlier this month. CM Dhami has directed officials to work with the Air Force to contain the forest fire at Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary. This will involve using helicopters and other required resources to spray water over the damaged regions.

In order to assess state secretariat preparations for the impending monsoon season, CM Dhami also called a conference of high ranking officials. He emphasized the difficulties brought about by the monsoon and the necessity of locating clogged drains, waste accumulation places, and blocked roadways in order to guarantee readiness and prompt government response.

We have always faced difficulties during the monsoon because we have to deal with some sort of calamity. We must locate clogged sewers, trash accumulation zones, and blocked highways. The meeting has been called to examine preparedness and ensure that the administration remains operational,” Chief Minister Dhami told ANI.

In order to ensure that the state is ready for any potential calamities, Chief Minister Dhami gave instructions to officials during the disaster management review meeting to stay on high alert and do all work linked to disaster management within the allotted time.
