Approximately 2.5 Lakh Rural Families in Mandsaur District to Receive Clean Drinking Water
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the scheme will not only ensure water supply, but it will also boost employment opportunities and also prove to be an important step towards making the villagers self-reliant through community participation.
Public Health Engineering Minister Smt. Sampatiya Uike informed that earlier there was severe water shortage every summer and people used to face water problem due to drying up of water sources, but now a stable way of water supply is being prepared from Gandhi Sagar Dam. The objectives of Jal Jeevan Mission are being realised through this scheme.
Community participation and employment generation
The objective of Gandhi Sagar Water Supply Scheme is not only to supply water but also to actively involve local communities. More than 1200 workers have got employment under this scheme and many more people will get employment even after the completion of the scheme.
For proper operation of this scheme, Village Water and Sanitation Ad-hoc Committees will be formed, in which 50 percent will be women and 25 percent will be representatives of SC/ST/OBC category. These committees will play an active role in water supply and its management, which will ensure a permanent solution to the water crisis and strong participation of villagers.
Improvement in sanitation and health in Jal Jeevan Mission
This scheme will not only ensure water supply but also work to reduce water-borne diseases and make rural communities healthy. Villagers will be relieved from fetching water from far away and they will be able to do their other important work.

Gandhi Sagar Water Supply Scheme has brought a new hope and permanent solution for the rural areas of Mandsaur district. This scheme will not only solve the water crisis but also improve the standard of living in the rural areas.
With this ambitious effort of water supply, a new chapter is being written in Mandsaur district, which will become a symbol of development and prosperity in the coming time.
