CM Mohan Yadav praised Shri Dattopant Thengadi, describing him as a sage-like figure who illuminated society with his wisdom and philosophy. He noted that Thengadi’s visionary contributions to agriculture, labor welfare, and Swadeshi continue to inspire future generations. As a founding member of the Vidyarthi Parishad, Thengadi’s influence significantly shaped the course of action and thought. CM Mohan Yadav emphasized that Thengadi viewed Hindutva as more than just nationalism; he regarded it as a philosophy of universal brotherhood, transcending the boundaries of life and matter, embracing individuals, society, the nation, and humanity. In today’s world, CM Mohan Yadav believes Thengadi’s ideas are even more relevant, as the world looks to India for solutions to global challenges. He stressed the urgent need for research into the diverse dimensions of Indian knowledge traditions, calling for collaborative efforts between the government and society. The Chief Minister was speaking at the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony and the launch of a new campus building for the Dattopant Thengadi Research Institute, with thinker and writer Shri Suresh Soni attending as a distinguished Saraswat guest.
Release of Annual Souvenir ‘Sanket Rekha’
CM Mohan Yadav also attended the Bhoomi Pujan and construction commencement event on Link Road Number 3, celebrating Basantotsav. The event began with CM Mohan Yadav offering a garland to Baba Mahakal’s picture and planting a sapling. He lit a ceremonial lamp and garlanded pictures of Maa Saraswati and Shri Dattopant Thengadi. Dr. Yadav released the annual souvenir, ‘Sanket Rekha,’ of the Dattopant Thengadi Research Institute and unveiled a poster for the upcoming National Researchers Meet scheduled for March 1-3, 2025.
Utilizing Knowledge for Society’s Benefit
CM Mohan Yadav spoke about India’s ancient Gurukuls and universities, highlighting their role in demonstrating the intellectual strength of Indian society. He emphasized that, according to Indian culture, the highest form of spiritual fulfillment is using each moment for society’s welfare. Indian philosophy, he noted, promotes love, brotherhood, and a peaceful life. CM Mohan Yadav stressed the importance of institutions like the Dattopant Thengadi Research Institute, which conduct in-depth research on Bharatiyata and tribal societies. He also lauded the transformative impact of the New Education Policy under Prime Minister Modi, which prioritizes practical experience over rote learning. He urged that research should be directed towards benefiting humanity. CM Mohan Yadav added that the Bhoomi Pujan of the Institute, coinciding with Basant Panchami and the worship of Goddess Saraswati, will channel the power of knowledge for societal advancement.
Adhering to Principles of Abundance, Equality, and Restraint
Shri Suresh Soni, thinker and writer, discussed Shri Dattopant Thengadi’s life, emphasizing that he embodied Bharatiya Rishi Pragya. Thengadi kept Indian philosophy at the center of all aspects of life, from personal well-being to global peace. Soni critiqued Macaulay’s education policy, advocating instead for the promotion of Indian values like sacrifice, restraint, and dedication, which contrast with the self-centeredness and consumerism promoted by Western ideals. He called for a concerted effort to develop an India-centric approach to education, culture, and research, grounded in the principles of abundance in production, equality in distribution, and restraint in consumption.
Madhya Pradesh as a Hub for Fundamental Research
Soni expressed confidence that the Dattopant Thengadi Research Institute, with its Indian-centric research approach, would position Madhya Pradesh as a leading center for fundamental research in India. He urged for collaboration in achieving this vision and emphasized the human responsibility to preserve nature and ensure the well-being of all living beings.
India-Centric Thought Revolution
Higher Education Minister Shri Inder Singh Parmar credited Shri Thengadi with sparking an India-centric thought revolution. His work in the fields of agriculture, labor, and education enriched the Indian knowledge tradition. Parmar noted that under Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s guidance, state research institutes would continue to explore the scientific foundations of Indian traditions. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture, Shri Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, praised Thengadi for blending patriotism and modernity in his vision for the nation’s development based on Indian knowledge and education. Shri Ashok Pandey, President of the Dattopant Thengadi Institute, highlighted that Thengadi’s ideas inspired society to strive for enlightenment, prosperity, and knowledge. The program was attended by officials, academic experts, and researchers from various institutions.
