Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has called for the recognition of tourism as a formal industry in Madhya Pradesh, urging targeted initiatives to support entrepreneurs and innovators in expanding tourism across the state. Speaking at the 8th Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board meeting, Dr. Yadav emphasized the potential of the state’s diverse regions to enhance tourism offerings, with a special focus on health and wellness tourism.
Promoting Health and Wellness Tourism
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav directed the Tourism Department to collaborate closely with the Public Health, Medical Education, and AYUSH Departments to strengthen wellness tourism in Madhya Pradesh. He suggested studying successful wellness tourism models from other states and developing division-wise action plans. Religious trusts and institutions were identified as key partners to promote health and wellness tourism statewide.
Leveraging Culture, History, and Nature
Under Dr. Yadav’s vision, the Tourism Department will promote Madhya Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage, history, and biodiversity. He encouraged the development of films and media projects centered on the state’s history and culture and urged showcasing forests, wildlife, and natural landscapes on global platforms, including international wildlife and nature-focused TV channels. These efforts aim to position Madhya Pradesh as a global destination for both cultural and eco-tourism.

Infrastructure and Sectoral Developments
The Tourism Board reviewed ongoing and upcoming projects, including the PM Shree Tourism Helicopter Services connecting key locations such as Indore-Ujjain-Omkareshwar, Bhopal-Madhei-Pachmarhi, and Jabalpur-Bandhavgarh-Kanha. Plans for Singhast-2028, rural tourism promotion, adventure and water-based tourism, investment opportunities, and national and international marketing strategies were also discussed.
Focus on Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Highlighting the importance of innovation, CM Yadav encouraged measures to make tourism accessible to entrepreneurs and innovators. These initiatives aim to expand tourism facilities in urban and rural areas, generate employment, and foster sustainable development in the sector.
