CM Mohan Yadav emphasized that mass marriage programs should be given a creative shape. He stated that efforts should be made to make the financial assistance provided under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana (CM’s Girl Marriage Scheme) more meaningful. He suggested involving affluent and capable members of society in these events. Participation of public representatives should also be ensured, and these events should convey important messages against societal evils. Lavish weddings must be avoided. Such programs should be made more beneficial and given a creative format by eliminating social evils.

On Tuesday, during a review meeting of social justice and empowerment schemes for Divyangjan (differently-abled) held at Samatva Bhavan, Chief Minister’s residence, CM Mohan Yadav issued necessary directives. The meeting also reviewed the participation of non-governmental organizations in social service and the implementation of welfare programs for Divyangjan. Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, and other senior officials were present at the meeting.

CM Mohan Yadav noted that private institutions in some cities are doing commendable work in the field of Divyang empowerment, which serves as an inspiration for others. For instance, in Ujjain, Dr. Saraswat is providing physiotherapy support to Divyangjan near Tower Square. Similarly, initiatives such as providing special glasses for the visually impaired and senior citizens are being carried out in various cities using advanced technology. These glasses can be made available to elderly people at very low costs. He suggested involving social organizations in these efforts.

CM Mohan Yadav also directed the proper implementation of various pension schemes and social welfare programs to ensure eligible individuals benefit from them. He highlighted the government’s provision of Rs. 2 lakh as an incentive for the marriage of widows (Kalyani sisters). He stressed the need to promote this scheme widely so that more widows can benefit from it, terming it a noble initiative from a social perspective. It was informed during the meeting that over Rs. 13 crore was spent under this provision in the last financial year, and 675 widow marriages were conducted in the state this year.

CM Mohan Yadav also instructed providing eligible individuals with a special bicycle, worth Rs. 1 lakh, which can also function as a wheelchair at home. Similarly, awareness campaigns were proposed to promote the availability of Jaipur Foot for Divyangjan in Madhya Pradesh.

Discussions during the meeting also covered topics such as organizing low-cost marriages, promoting simple weddings on an individual level, curbing extravagant death feasts, and running campaigns against addiction. It was reported that necessary arrangements for treatment of Divyangjan are being ensured in various hospitals. Dr. Yadav also cited the example of a center operated by Shri Sudhir Goyanka in Ujjain, which assists nearly 300 citizens with disabilities.
