CM Mohan Yadav highlighted that happiness and sorrow are natural aspects of human life, much like day and night. He stressed that a welfare state’s primary responsibility is to ensure the well-being of its citizens. “Our government is dedicated to this mission, with the ultimate goal of fostering prosperity for all,” he stated.
Addressing the National Happiness Seminar at Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium, organized by the Happiness Department, CM Mohan Yadav emphasized that true happiness stems from inner peace, which is attained through selflessness, sacrifice, devotion, and discipline. “When the mind surrenders to the Supreme, it experiences genuine bliss,” he remarked. Reaffirming his government’s commitment to the people of Madhya Pradesh, he assured that efforts are being made to bring joy into the lives of every citizen.
The seminar witnessed the presence of several prominent figures, including Dr. Mohan Nagar, Vice President (Minister of State Rank) of MP Jan Abhiyan Parishad; Swami Samarpanananda Ji from Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, Kolkata; Prof. Rajneesh Arora, Vice-Chancellor of Punjab Technical University; Dr. N. Ravichandran, former Director of IIM Indore; Principal Secretary of the Happiness Department, Shri Raghvendra Kumar Singh; CEO of the State Happiness Institute, Shri Ashish Kumar Gupta, along with other intellectuals and happiness volunteers.
CM Mohan Yadav reiterated that ensuring the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of every citizen in Madhya Pradesh is a top priority for his administration. “Through various welfare initiatives, we are benefiting every section of society. True governance is measured by the happiness and satisfaction of the people,” he said.
Explaining the essence of happiness, CM Mohan Yadav cited the joy of a mother in nurturing life despite hardships and the spiritual bliss of a monk, illustrating how happiness manifests in different forms. He encouraged people to embrace life with positivity, recognizing that the Supreme Being has created everyone to live in happiness. He urged society to adopt an optimistic approach and contribute to building a joyful community.
During the event, an MoU was signed between the State Happiness Institute, Bhopal, and MP Jan Abhiyan Parishad. CM Mohan Yadav described this collaboration as a significant step, uniting two institutions working at the grassroots level to spread happiness. Over the past year, their joint efforts have positively impacted 24,310 people, and over the last three years, they have reached 72,390 individuals.
Swami Samarpanananda Ji stressed the importance of gratitude towards nature and the divine, urging people to preserve cultural traditions and awaken their inner virtues. He commended Madhya Pradesh’s pioneering initiative in establishing a Happiness Department and emphasized that true peace and joy come from serving humanity with sincerity. He also outlined five fundamental principles for achieving a happier life.
Prof. Rajneesh Arora noted that happiness is an internal state that should be reflected in one’s character and actions. “Happiness exists everywhere, from individuals to society as a whole, but one must learn to recognize and cultivate it,” he stated. Dr. N. Ravichandran pointed out that as societies progress, people seek happiness in different ways, but genuine contentment is found in mental peace. He urged individuals to fulfill their responsibilities and relationships with sincerity, as this forms the foundation of true joy.
The seminar began with Principal Secretary Shri Raghvendra Kumar Singh outlining the objectives and framework of the two-day National Happiness Seminar. He emphasized the department’s continuous efforts to engage all sections of society in initiatives aimed at spreading happiness throughout Madhya Pradesh.
The event also featured discussions among social workers and experts from various fields on innovative strategies to enhance happiness in people’s lives.
