CM Mohan Yadav stated that Indian science is deeply connected to its traditions. India has always prioritized science and innovation under its leadership. The visionary approach of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has propelled Indian science and research to new heights.
Dr. Yadav highlighted that former Prime Minister Late Lal Bahadur Shastri gave the slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” which energized the nation. This slogan not only strengthened India’s defense and agriculture but also inspired self-reliance. Subsequently, former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee added “Jai Vigyan” to the slogan, emphasizing India’s scientific achievements and innovative mindset.
CM Mohan Yadav noted that Prime Minister Shri Modi further extended this legacy by adding “Jai Anusandhan,” providing a new direction to science and innovation. A testament to this is the development of an indigenous vaccine for COVID-19 within just one year during the pandemic, showcasing the scientific prowess and leadership of India.
He also highlighted the nuclear tests conducted during Atal Ji’s tenure (Pokhran) and the scientific advancements under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership as examples of India’s ability to turn challenges into opportunities, proving its strength and capabilities to the world.
CM Mohan Yadav addressed the inauguration ceremony of the 31st National Children’s Science Congress at Ravindra Bhavan on Friday. He described the Congress as an ideal platform for nurturing young talents. On this occasion, Dr. Yadav virtually inaugurated the automation and renovation work, along with the installation of new equipment, at the Varah Mihir Astronomical Observatory in Dongla, Ujjain district. He also released the research journal “Yugyugeen Bharat ka Purovak” published by Veer Bharat Nyas and launched the Mahadev Film Series created by the same organization.
A video message from Union Minister of State for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences (Independent Charge) Shri Jitendra Singh was also played during the event. In his message, Shri Singh inspired the children participating in the Congress to give their best and encouraged them with his words.
CM Mohan Yadav emphasized the state government’s commitment to promoting science, research, and innovation. He expressed that the synergy of science and culture would pave the way for India to reclaim its leading position on the global stage. Motivating children and teachers, he said that the future of India lies in their hands, and a balance between science, culture, and tradition is the foundation of our progress. The participation of 700 children and teachers from six Gulf countries and various Indian states made the event unique and historic. CM Mohan Yadav highlighted that such gatherings play a crucial role in inspiring the new generation toward science and innovation.

CM Mohan Yadav, while congratulating everyone on the inauguration of the observatory’s automation, stated that this initiative would greatly assist students and researchers in better understanding astronomical mysteries. He highlighted that India has advanced knowledge of geography and astronomy since ancient times. He added that the worship of the Navagrahas, astrology, and the study of celestial phenomena have been integral parts of India’s cultural heritage.
CM Mohan Yadav emphasized the need to redefine the concept of Greenwich Mean Time. He pointed out that our ancestors approached the study of time and orbits with a scientific perspective, and this knowledge needs to be reinterpreted in today’s context. He questioned the logic of starting the day at midnight, stating that it does not appear scientific from any perspective.
Wishing the young scientists a bright future, CM Mohan Yadav affirmed the commitment to providing research opportunities to every youth and ensuring employment for every hand and water for every field. He expressed a vision to preserve and present India’s ancient history and knowledge through a modern lens. He remarked that the synergy of science and culture sustained India’s prosperity for thousands of years, and it is now time to revive this legacy.
Under the leadership of CM Mohan Yadav, Madhya Pradesh is witnessing focused efforts on the comprehensive development of its ancient Indian heritage, literature, culture, science, agriculture, water conservation, and trade, said Dr. Shriram Tiwari, Cultural Advisor to the Chief Minister and Secretary of Veer Bharat Nyas. Dr. Yadav has elevated the integration of science and culture to new heights, initiating two major projects through Veer Bharat Nyas.
The Purovak research journal will focus on various aspects of Indian civilization, culture, and history. Its first edition highlights India’s historical, archaeological, and socio-scientific perspectives, along with contemporary relevance. The journal aims to present the relationship between culture and science from a fresh perspective.
Veer Bharat Nyas’s YouTube channel has also launched a new series, Mahadev, which explores the cosmic and scientific dimensions associated with Lord Shiva. The series delves into topics such as Adi Jyotirlinga, the 84 kalpas of Lord Mahadev, Jyotirlingas, Ekadash Rudras, and cosmic phenomena. Another series, Yug Yugeen Bharatvanshi, focuses on ancient Indian tribes, their contributions to society, and the scientific and philosophical concepts embedded in mythology and ancient narratives. These initiatives aim to serve as milestones in blending Indian tradition with modernity.
Additional Chief Secretary of the Science and Technology Department, Shri Sanjay Dubey, elaborated on innovations in science and technology under CM Mohan Yadav guidance. He expressed pride in being associated with the National Children’s Science Congress, which began in Gwalior, his hometown, in 1993. He emphasized that Bhopal’s green and clean environment is an ideal venue for this event.
Dr. Suhas Joshi, Director of IIT Indore, shared details about the software developed by IIT Indore for automating the Dongla telescope. This facility will allow citizens across India to access it remotely. He also invited young scientists to visit IIT Indore to learn more about its advancements in science and technology.
Dr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, National Organization Secretary of Vijnana Bharati, highlighted the importance of research and innovation in uncovering new facts and creating solutions for societal challenges. He encouraged inventions that promote positivity, peace, prosperity, and environmental sustainability. He hoped that the young scientists at the Congress would advance in this direction over the four-day event.
Dr. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Union Ministry of Science and Technology, underlined that the National Children’s Science Congress, which started in Gwalior in 1993, provides a platform for young scientists to address pressing contemporary issues. This flagship program of the Central Government aims to inspire children to engage in new inventions and discoveries in science and technology while sharing their experiences with peers.
Finally, Dr. Rashmi Sharma expressed gratitude to all guests, attendees, and young scientists for their participation and contributions to the Congress.
Exhibition Visit
Before the inauguration of the 31st National Children’s Science Congress, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the model exhibition of young scientists held at the Ravindra Bhavan campus. He meticulously examined the science models displayed by the children, wrote remarks in the visitor’s book, and praised the young scientists wholeheartedly. Dr. Yadav also inaugurated the science art exhibition organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, and observed the various exhibits.
During the event, the Chief Minister interacted with the children, engaging in friendly conversations and encouraging their scientific pursuits. He also took selfies with the children, fostering a sense of connection and inspiration among the young participants.
