CM Mohan Yadav has announced that the government is swiftly moving towards its goal of presenting Bhopal residents with the unique gift of metro train service by October 2025. He stated that metro train services have already commenced in Indore and received an excellent response from the public. The Bhopal Metro project is also progressing rapidly, with only a few remaining tasks to be completed within the next one and a half to two months. CM Dr. Yadav informed that the test run of the Bhopal Metro is underway. The Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) has completed its inspection, and the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) will soon visit for a safety inspection. Once the CMRS grants approval, the priority corridor of the Bhopal Metro will be opened to the public.
CM Mohan Yadav made these remarks on Sunday while addressing the media after a detailed inspection of the Bhopal Metro project. Present on the occasion were Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Smt. Krishna Gaur, Additional Chief Secretary of Urban Development and Housing Shri Sanjay Dubey, social worker Shri Ravindra Yati, Shri Rahul Kothari and officials from the MP Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav Rides the Metro Train
CM Mohan Yadav took a trial ride of the Bhopal Metroon Sunday. He traveled in the three-coach metro train from Subhash Nagar Station to AIIMS and back from AIIMS to Rani Kamlapati (RKMP) Station. During the ride, he reviewed the features and amenities of the metro. He emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the government is actively enhancing public amenities. PM Modi has gifted metro projects to both Indore and Bhopal, and the state government is preparing for the early inauguration of Bhopal Metro under his guidance. Calling the metro journey delightful, Dr. Yadav said the government aims to offer this joyful travel experience to every citizen of Bhopal as soon as possible.
The Chief Minister was briefed on the priority corridor of the Bhopal Metro, before the ride. He also visited the Metro Central Control Room (Command Center) near Subhash Nagar Metro Station to gain technical insights into metro operations. Additional Chief Secretary Shri Sanjay Dubey provided a comprehensive update on the project’s progress.
Metro Service Targeted to Begin by October 2025
CM Mohan Yadav addressed the media at RKMP Station and gave detailed information about the projectafter the metro ride. He said the Bhopal Metro is a symbol of Madhya Pradesh’s development and is being built at a total cost of Rs. 6,941.40 crore. The priority corridor from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2,225 crore and is in its final stage. The goal is to start metro operations on this corridor by October 2025. A roadmap has been prepared to make both corridors of the Bhopal Metro — the Orange and Blue Lines — fully operational before 2030.
The design speed of the Bhopal Metro is 90 kmph, with an operational speed of 40–60 kmph. Travel time between two stations will be just two minutes. Modern passenger amenities like escalators, elevators, braille signage, purified drinking water, clean toilets, and real-time passenger information will be available in the metro. CM Dr. Yadav added that the government is developing fully inclusive infrastructure for persons with disabilities, ensuring accessible movement at all stations.
A total of 27 state-of-the-art metro train sets are planned for the Bhopal Metro project, of which 7 have already arrived in the city. He also noted that metro trains will not only provide a convenient travel option but will also play an effective role in environmental conservation and pollution control.
Entire Indore Metro Section to Begin by Year-End
CM Mohan Yadav also briefed the media on the progress of the remaining work of the Indore Metro. He mentioned that services have already started in Indore and the government’s target is to commence operations on the full metro section — from Super Corridor to Malviya Nagar Square (Radisson Square) — by the end of this year. This will ensure comprehensive metro service for the residents of Indore. He affirmed the government’s commitment to launching world-class metro services in both Indore and Bhopal on schedule, providing citizens with a simple, accessible, efficient, and safe mode of public transport.
