CM Mohan Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a leading state in sports, with a vision to become the sports capital in the future. Announcing a new initiative, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav declared the launch of a shooter discovery programme in Indore, which will be conducted in collaboration with the administration and BSF. Selected shooters will receive training at Revati Range to hone their skills. CM Mohan Yadav congratulated the BSF team for organizing the event while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 18th All India Police Shooting (Sports) Championship-2024 at Revati Range, Indore today. The championship, hosted by the Central Armament and War Skills School (CSWT) of BSF, will run from March 24 to March 29, 2025. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also released a souvenir dedicated to the event.
The opening ceremony featured an impressive march past by Central Police Organisations and various State Police teams, synchronized to the rhythmic tunes played by the BSF and Police Brass Bands. The event also showcased a Weapon Drill/Aerotype Display by the BSF Bolds Team and a spectacular demonstration of security skills by Indian-breed dogs from the National Dog Training Centre (NTCD), Tekanpur. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav took the salute of the parade and marked the occasion by releasing balloons and pigeons into the open sky. The event was graced by Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat, Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav, senior officials from civil administration and police, representatives from apex industrial organizations, force personnel, their families, and eminent citizens, who gathered in large numbers to witness the ceremony.
Personnel from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), State Police, and Union Territory Police Forces from across the country are participating in the annual championship sports competition at Revati Range, Indore, which is being held from 24 to 29 March 2025. This prestigious event, last hosted in Pune, Maharashtra, in 2019, is making a comeback after a gap of five years. The six-day competition will witness the participation of 600 male and female shooters, including officers from various police organizations and state police forces nationwide. The event aims to provide a platform for shooters and teams representing different police organizations to showcase their shooting skills in a cordial and high-spirited sportsmanship environment. A total of 17 events in Sports Weapons are being conducted under the supervision of the All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB). Competitions will take place under the guidance of officials from the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), with players competing for a total of 204 medals, comprising 68 gold, 68 silver, and 68 bronze.
Central Police Organisations and State Police Forces across the country have consistently been in the limelight in the national sports arena, owing to their remarkable achievements. Over the years, numerous eminent sportspersons from CAPFs and Police Forces have represented India on various international platforms, bringing glory and pride to the nation. The strong sports culture within the forces not only fosters excellence among athletes but also inspires a spirit of discipline, determination, and teamwork among all personnel. During the event, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also visited a special photographic exhibition showcasing old and modern weapons. The exhibition also featured BSF training activities, offering visitors a glimpse into the preparedness of the force.
