Construction of Shri Ram Path Gaman, Parikrama Path and Shri Ram Raja Lok in a grand manner: CM Mohan Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that after the construction of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, the entire focus of tourists and devotees has shifted to Chitrakoot. The works of Shri Ram Path Gaman and Shri Ram Raja Lok must be carried out with great splendour, and the convenience of devotees and tourists must be given priority. All departments should work in coordination, take effective action, use the allotted funds as per schedule, and complete all ongoing works within the prescribed timeframe. The Chief Minister emphasized that before building Shri Ram Path Gaman, the Parikrama path should be prepared, which would promote Chitrakoot widely among domestic and foreign tourists. He said that at the ghats of Chitrakoot, tourists should get a spiritual experience, and all our efforts should move in this direction.
On Friday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav reviewed the Shri Ram Path Gaman work plan from Samatva Bhavan at the Chief Minister’s residence. He said that along with religious tourism, all possibilities for medical tourism in Chitrakoot should also be developed through concrete action. He proposed establishing a high‑quality health wellness center in Chitrakoot so that tourists coming there could access both general and modern medical facilities. He also reviewed the up‑to‑date progress of construction of Shree Ram Raja Lok in Orchha, in Niwari district. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain; Additional Chief Secretary, CM Office, Shri Neeraj Mandloi, Additional Chief Secretaries Shri Ashok Barnwal, Shri Sanjay Dubey and Shri Sheo Shekhar Shukla; Principal Secretary, Public Works, Shri Sukhveer Singh; Commissioner, Public Relations Shri Deepak Saxena; CM’s cultural advisor, Shri Sreeram Tiwari and other senior officials.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that religious and social organizations connected with service works should also be involved in the overall development of Chitrakoot. Service activities should be expanded through CSR funds of large companies in Chitrakoot. He insisted that the Parikrama path in Chitrakoot be completed as soon as possible. Due to the large number of devotees gathering on Somvati Amavasya, micro‑planning should be done for crowd management. He directed the Additional Chief Secretary of Urban Development & Housing that since Chitrakoot is a municipal council, all urban development works should be given priority, and the beautification of Chitrakoot city should be done such that it becomes even more beautiful, planned, and orderly.
Additional Chief Secretary (Culture & Tourism) Shri Sheo Shekhar Shukla stated that under the “Swadesh Darshan 2.0” scheme, work worth Rs. 27.21 crore is underway in Chitrakoot, development of the Kamdagiri Parikrama path is being done at cost of Rs.36.84 crore; and for memorial Yagya Devi and other development works, Rs. 72 lakh is being spent. He further said that in Orchha, construction works across both phases of Shree Ram Raja Lok and seven different types of projects are in progress with a total cost exceeding Rs. 239.87 crore. He mentioned that a Shree Ram Path Gaman Trust has been formed in line with the decision of the Council of Ministers for the integrated development of the Shri Ram Path Gaman region. This trust has 33 members: 28 ex officio trustees and 5 non-governmental trustees appointed for 3 years. These non-government members are scholars associated with research on the life of Lord Shree Ram. He also said that 5 specialists will be appointed to the trust.
ACS Shri Shukla said that for expansion, restoration, and beautification of the ghats in Chitrakoot, acquisition of adjacent private land and other necessary land will be made. A proposal prepared by the Urban Administration & Housing Department for the integrated development of Chitrakoot will be implemented soon. For the development of tourist sites, land transfer procedures are being expedited in Majhgawan with the Forest Department, and marking of private and government lands in Amarkantak will also be completed soon. He said that in Madhya Pradesh, initially, 23 locations in 9 districts have been identified under Shree Ram Path Gaman. For these 23 identified sites, development work plans, concept master plans, architectural design, drawings, etc., are under tender process by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation. Under the Kamdagiri parikrama route development work plan, projects costing Rs. 36.84 crore are underway; also, development work at Bhrigu Kund in Panna district costing Rs. 7.96 crore and construction of a cantilever glass bridge are progressing. The Sharbhang Ashram in Satna has been preserved and developed at cost Rs. 92 lakh and in Agastya Muni Ashram in Panna district development work costing Rs. 3.95 crore is already complete.
Additional Chief Secretary Shri Shukla mentioned that in the last 10 years, the Chitrakoot Municipal Council and Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company (MPUDC) have completed works worth Rs. 25.46 crore. In Chitrakoot municipal council, works worth Rs. 80.33 crore are in progress and Rs. 34.21 crore works are proposed. He said that the Culture Department will ensure road construction and upgrades under the Public Works Department and RRDA as per connectivity plans for the Shri Ram Path Gaman area. He also said that works under the Prasad scheme by the Government of India in Amarkantak are nearing completion, and once completed, local bodies/trust committees will take over their operation. He added that projects worth Rs. 50 crore in Amarkantak have already been completed.
Principal Secretary, Public Works, Shri Sukhveer Singh said that currently proposals exist for the Public Works Department to build 34.30 km of roads at cost Rs. 117.79 crore. Among these, the 7.5 km stretches of Shree Ram Path Gaman have already received administrative approval and tenders have been invited. He added that administrative approval for a 14 km route is under discussion in the Finance Expenditure Committee.
