CM Mohan Yadav announced that the state aims to expand its irrigation coverage to one crore hectares by 2028-29, emphasizing the need for timely completion of all related construction projects. He also highlighted the anticipated large influx of devotees to Omkareshwar during Simhastha 2028, necessitating the construction of ghats on both banks of the Narmada River. These directives were issued during a meeting of the Narmada Valley Development Authority, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Jagdish Devda, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, and other officials at Samatva Bhavan in the Chief Minister’s residence.
The meeting reviewed the progress of multiple construction projects, including the Teria Nala Dam, Saner Dam, and the micro irrigation system under the Badadev Joint Micro Irrigation Project. Other key projects assessed included the Sondwa Micro Lift Irrigation Project, Dhar Lift Micro Irrigation Project, Bahoriband Lift Micro Irrigation Project, Narmada-Jhabua-Petlawad-Thandla-Sardarpur Lift Micro Irrigation Project, Dhimarkheda Micro Lift Irrigation Project, and canal construction under the Bargi Diversion Project, along with the Maheshwar-Janapav Lift Micro Irrigation Project.
Additionally, discussions were held on the development of ghats in Omkareshwar and Navghat-Kheri in Khandwa district, as well as the Indira Sagar Omkareshwar Pump Storage Project. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Shri Mohammad Suleman, and officials from the Narmada Valley Development Authority.
