CM Mohan Yadav stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is bringing the vision of “Development from Heritage” to life by reviving India’s knowledge traditions. He emphasized that, following Lord Shri Ram, the governance of Samrat Vikramaditya serves as an exemplary model of good administration. The Vikramotsav celebrations, being held across the country, including in Madhya Pradesh, aim to inspire people by highlighting various aspects of Samrat Vikramaditya’s life and leadership.
A grand event dedicated to Samrat Vikramaditya will take place in New Delhi on April 12-14, 2025. Invitations have been extended to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. CM Dr. Yadav shared these insights in a media message from New Delhi regarding Vikramotsav.
Samrat Vikramaditya: A Legacy of Justice, Wisdom, and Good Governance
CM Mohan Yadav noted that Samrat Vikramaditya is revered not only in India but worldwide for his exceptional qualities, including justice, wisdom, patience, valor, and deep strategic thinking. Over 2082 years ago, he defeated foreign invaders and established the Vikram Samvat calendar. His governance model, supported by 32 highly skilled ministers, earned the throne the name “Simhasan Battisi.” He also introduced a democratic system by forming a council of nine ministers (Navratnas), ensuring collective decision-making rather than unilateral rule—many modern governance principles can be traced back to his era.
CM Mohan Yadav also highlighted Samrat Vikramaditya’s contributions to trade and economic welfare. He promoted business growth by providing interest-free loans and prioritizing housing for all—similar to PM Modi’s initiatives for affordable housing and financial aid to the underprivileged. The resemblance between Samrat Vikramaditya’s governance and present-day policies is particularly evident in areas such as education, justice, and economic reforms.
Vikramotsav: A Celebration of India’s Knowledge Tradition
Describing Vikramotsav as a tribute to India’s rich knowledge heritage, Dr. Yadav emphasized how each minister in Samrat Vikramaditya’s court was an expert in their respective field, shaping an era of exemplary governance. He also highlighted that among history’s three famous sibling duos—Shri Ram and Lakshman, Shri Krishna and Balram, and Samrat Vikramaditya and Bharthari—the latter hailed from Madhya Pradesh, with Ujjain as their capital.
On the occasion of Gudi Padwa, special events celebrating Samrat Vikramaditya’s contributions will be organized across Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, grand theatrical performances showcasing his legacy and public welfare initiatives will be staged outside the state. Following the success of a similar event in Hyderabad last year, this campaign will continue across different regions.
