CM Mohan Yadav said that many development projects in Gwalior are rapidly taking shape. With the construction of a six-lane expressway from Gwalior to Agra, there will be no difference in connectivity between Gwalior and Delhi. Along with this, major infrastructure projects including the Western Bypass will contribute not only to physical development but also to the economic advancement of Gwalior. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav addressed the inauguration ceremony of the Vivekananda Needam Railway Overbridge (ROB) in Gwalior virtually from Bhopal. He congratulated the residents of Gwalior on this gift and said that the central government has given another major project in the form of the Western Bypass. Among the four major roads approved by the central government at a cost of over Rs 4,000 crore in the state, Gwalior’s Western Bypass is included.
CM Mohan Yadav added that along with the railway overbridge, Gwalior has also received the gift of hostels. Two 50-seater girls’ hostels will provide residential facilities for Scheduled Caste girls pursuing education in Gwalior. Dr. Yadav stated that continuous development is taking place under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is also scheduled to visit Anandpur Dham in Ashoknagar district on April 11.
Favorable Environment for Industries in Gwalior-Chambal Region
CM Mohan Yadav said that the state has created a very favorable environment for industries, including in the Gwalior-Chambal region, where rapid industrial development is taking place. In March, new industrial units were inaugurated in the region, and many large industries are expected to take shape in the future. Whether it is large industries or small and micro enterprises, the state provides favorable conditions for all. The government has cleared outstanding dues worth Rs 5,200 crore, and the Energy Department has also completed coal-related payments. He mentioned the active cooperation of citizens in the state’s development. He also extended greetings in advance for Mahavir Jayanti on April 10 and Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14.
CM Mohan Yadav said that the state’s per capita income has now exceeded Rs 1.52 lakh annually, and the state budget will double in the next five years. He noted that wheat is being procured from farmers at Rs 2,600 per quintal. River linking projects will benefit the Gwalior-Chambal region, including the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Inter-State River Linking Project and the Ken-Betwa River Linking Project. He highlighted Sheopur and other districts’ special contribution to milk production.
An Extraordinary Inauguration Ceremony
CM Mohan Yadav joyfully remarked that this inaugural event is extraordinary. Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia joined the event virtually while traveling by train. Speaker Shri Narendra Singh Tomar joined from New Delhi, PWD Minister Shri Rakesh Singh joined from Jabalpur, and In-Charge Minister Shri Tulsi Silawat participated from Narmadapuram. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav mentioned that Energy Minister Shri Pradyumna Tomar was present with him in Bhopal. MP Shri. Bharat Singh Kushwaha was present in Gwalior. He fondly mentioned his liking for Bahadura’s laddoos from Gwalior and called the day’s gift to Gwalior a sweet reason to celebrate together.
Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, in his virtual address, said that new milestones are being added to Gwalior’s development. The new ROB offers an alternative route to the Shivpuri-Datia highway. He praised PM Modi’s ability to turn challenges into opportunities and CM Mohan Yadav efforts to make the entire state developed, which is taking Gwalior to new heights. Shri Scindia said that Gwalior has received the Western Bypass worth Rs 1,300 crore, giving a major boost to development. He also recalled various development milestones established in recent years.
Speaker Shri Narendra Singh Tomar also addressed the event virtually. He said both the central and state governments are extending full support for Gwalior’s planned development. He expressed happiness that five ROBs were approved at once, all of which are now completed, improving transport and transforming the city’s image. He congratulated the citizens on the inauguration of the Vivekananda Needam ROB and expressed gratitude toward PM Modi and CM Yadav.
PWD Minister Shri Rakesh Singh also addressed the occasion virtually, extending his congratulations and best wishes for the inauguration of the Vivekananda Needam ROB.
In-Charge Minister and Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsi Silawat said that under the leadership of CM Dr. Yadav, the dream of a developed Gwalior is rapidly becoming a reality. Today, CM has gifted development works worth Rs 50 crore to Gwalior, including the long-awaited ROB and two hostels for Scheduled Caste girls.
MP Shri Bharat Singh Kushwaha expressed gratitude to CM Dr. Mohan Yadav for the ROB and hostels, adding that a series of development projects are underway in Gwalior. Upon completion of ongoing major works, Gwalior will certainly become a developed city.
Shri Kushwaha emphasized collective efforts, rising above party lines, to develop Gwalior. He said Gwalior will benefit from the double-engine government.
Former MP Shri Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar stated that the road passing through the Vivekananda Needam ROB will become one of the city’s main roads. He highlighted the gift of five ROBs to Gwalior in the past eight years. In the same line, the government has approved an ROB for Mohna, and work will begin soon.
Mayor Dr. Shobha Sikarwar and MLA Dr. Satish Sikarwar also addressed the gathering. At the event, benefits were distributed under various government welfare schemes like the National Urban Livelihood Mission, National Family Assistance, Social Security and Kalyani Pension, and the CM Working Women Welfare Scheme.
Direct Access from Chandrabadni Naka to the Highway via ROB
This ROB, constructed at a cost of Rs 42.80 crore, is 937 meters long with a 76-meter span. The construction was done by the Bridge Construction Division of the Public Works Department and Railways, with the railway constructing 37 meters of the ROB. It will reduce traffic pressure on the AG Office Bridge and shorten travel distances for residents of Lashkar Kampoo and surrounding areas to reach the Collectorate, New City Centre, and the highway. The ROB will also help avoid traffic jams, providing a direct road from Chandrabadni Naka to the Shivpuri and Datia National Highways.
Inaugurated Hostels
Alongside the ROB, CM Mohan Yadav also virtually inaugurated two new Scheduled Caste girls’ hostels constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 7.87 crore—one at Thatipur and another at Sirol. Each hostel is a 50-seater, constructed at a cost of Rs 3.93 crore.
