Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini said the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan is not just a government program but a people’s movement that demands active involvement from youth, women, children, educational institutions, voluntary organisations, saints, and social groups. He stressed that freeing the youth from drugs will pave the way for India to become a developed nation.
Speaking as chief guest at the state-level function in Panchkula on the 5th anniversary of the campaign, he noted that the initiative, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2020, aims to unite people against drug abuse and lead the country towards a healthy and prosperous future.
CM Nayab Saini said Haryana is determined to become drug-free. Recently, a Cyclothon saw lakhs of young participants pledging to shun drugs. The campaign has grown into a mass movement with participation from all sections of society, supported by saints and Khap panchayats.
He highlighted India’s rapid progress under PM Modi’s leadership — becoming the world’s fourth-largest economy, showcasing global strength through Operation Sindoor, and excelling in sports. The PM has set a vision for India to be a developed nation by 2047, and Haryana is contributing by achieving new milestones in development.
CM Nayab stressed that keeping youth away from drugs and involving them in constructive work is key to sustaining national growth. Over the last five years, the campaign has spread awareness and inspired people to break free from addiction. He said the government enforces strict anti-drug laws, ensures severe punishment for traffickers, and has set up an inter-state secretariat in Panchkula with seven other states to share intelligence and coordinate enforcement. However, he added, the fight against drugs needs more than laws — public awareness, community involvement, and especially youth engagement are vital.
Urging parents to spend time with their children, listen to them, and guide them in the right direction, CM Nayab Saini said addiction not only destroys individuals but weakens families and society. He appealed to the public to support and encourage addicts to recover rather than isolate them, and he administered an anti-drug pledge to attendees.
Quoting PM Modi,CM Nayab Saini said that if India’s youth channel their energy positively, nothing can stop the nation from becoming the world’s greatest power. He also invoked Swami Vivekananda’s call to “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.”
Saints at the event lauded the government’s commitment to a drug-free Haryana, noting that the nation’s progress depends on eradicating addiction. They pledged full cooperation to make the campaign successful.
The event was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma, Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal, former Vidhan Sabha Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, and other dignitaries.
