Haryana CM Nayab Saini, while presiding over the 58th meeting of the Water Supply and Sewerage Board held here today,
Water Supply and Sewerage Board directed officials to strengthen drinking water supply in urban and rural areas and to improve sewerage systems. Along with this, the CM Nayab Saini instructed officials to ensure drinking water supply in 33 dhanis (hamlets) and provide sewerage facilities in 12 new villages under the
Public Health and Engineering Minister Sh. Ranbir Gangwa was also present in the meeting. Discussions were held on expediting flagship programmes of the department in both rural and urban areas, and progress of the works already approved for the current financial year was reviewed. The Chief Minister also reviewed the ongoing works under the Mahagram Yojana.
CM Nayab Saini directed the officials to implement the schemes at a faster pace to ensure clean drinking water in every household. He instructed that complaints regarding the sewerage being laid under AMRUT 2.0 in rural areas be addressed in a timely and planned manner to avoid inconvenience to the public.
*Decision to provide drinking water supply in ‘dhanis’*
It was decided in the meeting that the department will ensure drinking water supply in dhanis having more than 20 houses in Haryana. For this, the department will make all necessary arrangements. The dhanis identified include 2 in Ambala, 5 in Faridabad, 2 in Hisar, 3 in Karnal, 5 in Kurukshetra, 7 in Mewat (Nuh), 2 in Palwal, 3 in Panipat, and 4 in Sirsa. The Chief Minister said that works in these dhanis should be carried out on a priority basis.
*Sewerage facilities in 12 new villages under AMRUT 2.0*
Officials informed the Chief Minister about the challenges in establishing Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) after laying sewerage under AMRUT 2.0 in rural areas. It was decided that before selecting villages under this scheme, it must be ensured that STPs are established there. Officials also informed that 17 projects have already been completed, and in the next phase, work will soon begin in 12 new villages. Sh. Nayab Singh Saini instructed senior officers to have the Quality Assurance Authority (QAA) conduct inspections of these projects from time to time.
It was also decided in the meeting that sewerage networks in urban areas will be upgraded and new projects will be prepared for treatment of wastewater. The Chief Minister said that clean drinking water and a robust sewerage system are essential both for public health and for environmental safety. Officials of the Public Health and Engineering Department also presented progress reports of ongoing schemes in the meeting. The Chief Minister emphasized that facilities must be provided to the public on time and directed that all departments should work in close coordination.

Arun Kumar Gupta, Commissioner & Secretary of Public Health and Engineering Department Mohammad Shayin, Additional Principal Secretary to CM Dr. Saket Kumar, Chairperson of Haryana Water Resources Authority Smt. Keshni Anand Arora, along with other senior officers.
