CM Nayab Singh Saini participates in a state-level event in Jhajjar.
CM Nayab Singh Saini : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the vision of a strong and prosperous farmer as the foundation of a self-reliant India, released the 19th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in Bhagalpur, Bihar. This initiative provided financial assistance to farmers nationwide, including ₹360 crore credited to the bank accounts of 16.38 lakh farmers in Haryana.
To mark the occasion, a state-level Kisan Samman Samaroh was held in Jhajjar, where Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini attended as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he encouraged farmers to adopt modern and innovative agricultural practices, explore organic and natural farming, and actively engage in marketing their produce to increase profitability. He urged them to take full advantage of government schemes to strengthen their financial position.
CM Nayab Singh Saini announced that ₹17.41 crore had been deposited into the accounts of 77,000 farmers in Jhajjar district. So far, ₹6,203 crore has been disbursed to around 20 lakh farmers in Haryana across 18 previous installments.
Government Initiatives to Support Farmers
Highlighting the central government’s efforts to enhance agricultural profitability, he noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi in 2019 to provide small and marginal farmers with ₹6,000 annually in three installments. Additional schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Kisan Credit Card Yojana, PM Kisan Mandhan Yojana, Pashudhan Bima Yojana, Soil Health Card Yojana, and the Traditional Agriculture Development Scheme are also strengthening the agricultural sector.
CM Nayab Singh Saini emphasized that PM Modi’s vision for a developed India by 2047 revolves around four key pillars—farmers, the poor, women, and youth. Recognizing the vital role of farmers, the Haryana government is committed to improving their financial conditions and making agriculture more profitable. The effective implementation of central schemes demonstrates the efficiency of the “double-engine government.”
Before 2014, India’s agricultural budget was ₹24,000 crore; it has now increased to ₹1,26,000 crore under PM Modi’s leadership. Over the past decade, several initiatives have introduced modern technology, better facilities, increased production, and ensured fair pricing for farmers. The ‘Namo Drone Didi Yojana’ is one such program that simplifies fertilizer spraying, benefiting farmers significantly.
Promoting Sustainable and Profitable Agriculture
The Haryana government is actively promoting natural farming, with 24,000 farmers registered on the ‘Natural Farming Portal’ and 10,000 practicing organic farming on 15,170 acres. Training centers in Kurukshetra, Karnal, Jind, and Sirsa are educating farmers on sustainable agricultural practices.
Haryana has also become the first state in India to procure all 24 crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP). Over the last nine seasons, ₹1,25,000 crore has been directly transferred to 12 lakh farmers for crop procurement through the e-procurement portal. To support farmers affected by last year’s delayed monsoon, the government provided a ₹1,345 crore bonus, offering ₹2,000 per acre for Kharif crops.
To resolve land disputes, the government implemented the Agricultural Land Lease Act, restoring trust between tenant farmers and landowners. Additionally, ownership rights have been granted to farmers who have cultivated Shamlat land for over 20 years.
Compensation and Water Conservation Efforts
A compensation policy for high-tension power lines passing through fields ensures farmers receive 200% of the market rate for land under towers and 30% for land under power lines. Under the ‘Mera Pani-Meri Virasat’ scheme, ₹148 crore has been provided to 1.29 lakh farmers as an incentive to grow alternative crops instead of water-intensive paddy, promoting water conservation.
Continuous Support for Farmers
Former Agriculture Minister Om Prakash Dhankhar praised the Haryana government’s consistent efforts under CM Nayab Singh Saini’s leadership, highlighting Haryana as the first state to purchase all crops at MSP. He also pointed out the potential for fish farming in waterlogged areas of Jhajjar and suggested establishing a Center of Excellence for Ornamental Fish Farming to provide farmers with alternative income sources.
The event was attended by BJP State President Mohan Lal Badauli, MLA Rajesh Joon, and a large gathering of farmers.
