Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, while paying heartfelt tributes to Baba Lakhi Shah Vanjara, announced that the state government will develop and beautify Baba Lakhi Shah Bawdi in Ishargarh village, Kurukshetra. He also declared the construction of a community center and the installation of Baba Lakhi Shah Vanjara’s statue in the village.
For these initiatives, ₹31 lakh has been committed by the state government, along with ₹11 lakh each from Cabinet Minister Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar and Kumari Aarti Singh Rao. Additionally, with community consent, a road and a chowk (roundabout) in Haryana will be named after Baba Lakhi Shah Vanjara.
The announcements were made during a state-level function at the Chief Minister’s residence, Sant Kabir Kutir, on the occasion of Baba Lakhi Shah Vanjara Jayanti. CM Saini paid floral tribute to the saint and said the respect given to him by the Vanjara community is a great honor he will uphold throughout his life.
Remembering a Legend of Sacrifice and Devotion
CM Nayab Singh Saini hailed Baba Lakhi Shah Vanjara as a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and spiritual devotion, noting his unforgettable role in Indian history. He emphasized that Baba Lakhi Shah’s unparalleled devotion to the Sikh Gurus and his fearless resistance against the Mughals — including the martyrdom of over 112 members of his family — is a legacy that will inspire generations.
The Vanjara community, he said, is known for its resilience, dignity, and contribution to trade, commerce, and national defense.
Spreading the Legacy of Great Saints
Highlighting the government’s efforts to honor saints and spiritual leaders, CM Nayab Singh Saini mentioned the Sant-Mahapurush Vichar Samman and Prasar Yojana, which spreads the teachings of great figures. He stressed that true saints transcend religion and caste, and their legacies belong to all humanity. He said that various welfare schemes have been introduced to uplift the most deprived sections of society, including the Vanjara community.
Mainstreaming Marginalized Nomadic Communities
CM Nayab Singh Saini added that the government is working to bring nomadic and homeless communities into the mainstream. Through the Parivar Pehchan Patra scheme, families are being linked to government services and benefits. In cities like Karnal, Palwal, and Rohtak, plots have been allotted to homeless nomadic families, while under the Mukhyamantri Shahri Awas Yojana, 15,256 poor urban families have been allotted land in 14 towns.
Under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana, 4,532 people who were previously denied possession of their 100-square-yard plots have now been given ownership rights and ₹1 lakh financial aid. Also, under the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Awas Navinikaran Yojna, ₹80,000 is being provided to SC families for home repairs. So far, ₹416 crore has been disbursed to 76,985 beneficiaries under this scheme.
Major Welfare Initiatives Highlighted

Under PM Ujjwala Yojana, 13 lakh LPG connections have been provided to women from poor households.

17.51 lakh families are getting subsidized gas cylinders under Har Ghar-Har Grihini Yojana at ₹500/month.

PM Surya Ghar Yojana aims to make 2 lakh families electricity-bill free by 2027. Over 18,000 homes now have free solar panels.

Under Ayushman Bharat–Chirayu Yojana, ₹5 lakh health cover is provided to poor families. Over 20 lakh people have availed treatment worth ₹2,745 crore.

Mukhyamantri Vivaah Shagun Yojana provides up to ₹71,000 for the marriage of girls from poor families.
Embracing the Teachings of Baba Lakhi Shah Vanjara
CM Nayab Singh Saini stressed that history is shaped not just by force, but by sacrifice and service, as exemplified by Baba Lakhi Shah Vanjara. He called on the people of Haryana to follow his ideals as the state and nation move forward under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build a Viksit Bharat and Viksit Haryana.

Development and Panchayats Minister Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar praised the hardworking and brave Vanjara community, while emphasizing the government’s commitment to Antyodaya — ensuring the last person in society receives the benefits of governance.
