Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini , while presiding over a review meeting on development projects in Gurugram district on Thursday, directed officials to accelerate the execution of key state government projects and ensure their timely completion. He emphasized the need for high-quality work alongside swift implementation, warning against any delays in the development process.
The meeting was attended by Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Sohna MLA Tejpal Tanwar, Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi (via video conference), and Principal Advisor D.S. Dhesi.
After reviewing reports on sewerage, drainage, sanitation, water supply, construction and demolition (C&D) waste, and road infrastructure, CM Nayab Singh Saini stressed that strong infrastructure is crucial for the district’s progress. He urged departments to work in coordination and adhere to project timelines, adding that since the government is accountable to the public, officials must regularly monitor progress. In cases of delays caused by specific agencies, he stated that penalties should be imposed and FIRs registered.
Enhanced Cleanliness Measures in Gurugram
To improve sanitation, CM Nayab Singh Saini suggested deploying workers through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRNL). He emphasized the importance of keeping Gurugram clean, given its role as a key driver of the state’s economy. The meeting also discussed enhancing door-to-door garbage collection in the city.
Road Renovation by GMDA to Be Completed Before Monsoon
CM Nayab Singh Saini directed the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to expedite road renovation projects, ensuring completion before the monsoon season. He noted that GMDA manages 284.5 km of roads, with renovation completed for 135 km. Following the lifting of GRAP restrictions, work on an additional 100 km began on February 15 and is set to be finished within the stipulated timeframe.
He also instructed officials to accelerate the removal of C&D waste, improve drainage systems, and ensure transparency in metro expansion projects.
Upgrading Gurugram’s Water Supply Infrastructure
Officials informed that Gurugram’s current water demand of 270 cusecs is met through the GWS and NCR channels. However, to cater to future needs, a plan has been proposed to remodel the GWS canal by converting it into a pipeline, eliminating water leakage and ensuring better quality. The project, estimated at ₹3,000 crore, will be included in the upcoming budget.
Prioritizing Drainage System Before Roadwork
Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh emphasized that road renovation in Gurugram should only proceed after desilting the drainage system. He also suggested obtaining approval from Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) before initiating any developmental work.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Apoorv Kumar Singh (Town and Country Planning), Additional Chief Secretary Anand Mohan Sharan (Environment, Forest and Wildlife), GMDA CEO Shyamal Mishra, Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Chandra Bidhan, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar, and other senior officials.
Board Exams Proceeding Peacefully in Haryana
Responding to media queries about an alleged paper leak in board examinations, CM Nayab Singh Saini clarified that the paper was not leaked but was taken out of an examination room and photographed. He assured that the matter had been investigated and resolved, and that exams were now being conducted smoothly across the state.
Public Participation in Budget Planning
Regarding the state budget, CM Nayab Singh Saini stated that as the first budget of the government’s third term, extensive consultations were held with various stakeholders. The government received over 10,000 suggestions through a portal from women, entrepreneurs, farmers, horticulturists, and startups. He emphasized that the budget is being designed to align with public expectations and drive Haryana’s growth.
