Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini announced that all students enrolled in government schools across the state will receive their textbooks by April 15. He added that private school students are free to purchase books from any shop and are not restricted to a specific vendor.
The announcement was made during a high-level meeting held on Wednesday to review the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP). The meeting included senior officials from the School Education, Technical Education, and Higher Education departments. Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda was also present.
Focus on Timely Execution of Budget Provisions
CM Nayab Singh Saini instructed officials to identify all education-related proposals from the 2025–26 Budget Speech and ensure timely execution. He emphasized the need for a unified effort to improve the quality of education in Haryana.
Question Papers and Mock Tests to Go Online
To support exam preparation, CM Nayab Singh Saini directed the Board of School Education Haryana to upload past 10 years’ question papers and mock tests for board classes on its official website. He also called for forming a committee to align exam patterns with NEP guidelines.
Enhancing School Environment and Activities
CM Nayab Singh Saini stressed the importance of creating a positive and motivating school environment. He instructed schools to prioritize cleanliness, greenery, wall art, and inspirational slogans. He also proposed introducing special classes on sports and hygiene.
No Vacant Seats Under RTE; Officers to Engage with Schools
CM Nayab Singh Saini directed officials to ensure full enrollment under the Right to Education (RTE) Act and fill all seats in higher education institutions. He mandated that Group A and B officers spend one day each month at a government school to connect directly with students and educators.
Full NEP Implementation This Year
CM Nayab Singh Saini said the NEP would be fully implemented in Haryana this year. He urged officials to generate awareness about the policy through engagement with students and youth and to ensure that reforms begin at the school level. Outstanding students and teachers will be recognized and rewarded for their contributions.
Initiatives to Boost STEM Education and Tracking
To encourage interest in mathematics, the government will soon launch the Haryana Math Olympiad for students in Classes 10 to 12. Additionally, high-achieving students from Classes 6 to 12 will be taken on educational tours to premier research institutions such as ISRO, DRDO, and BARC.
CM Nayab Singh Saini also directed the development of a tracking portal for higher education institutions, similar to the one used for schools. A list of colleges whose NAAC accreditation was denied will be compiled so that corrective actions can be taken.
Model Sanskriti Colleges and Infrastructure Expansion
One government college in each district has been selected to be developed into a Model Sanskriti College, focusing on academic excellence, infrastructure development, and student-centric initiatives. The CM urged officials to speed up the construction of new college buildings across the state.
The meeting was attended by Chief Principal Secretary Rajesh Khullar, Additional Chief Secretaries Vineet Garg and Vijayendra Kumar, Principal Secretary Pankaj Agarwal, Deputy Principal Secretary Yashpal, OSD Bharat Bhushan Bharti, Raj Nehru (Chairman, State Higher Education Council), Kailash Chand Sharma (Chairman, Haryana Board of School Education), and other senior officials from the education departments.
